My personality

My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

After his first two families gave him up (due to no fault of his own), Ollie is looking for a family that will finally commit to keeping him forever. Ollie is currently obese but has lost 10 lbs in just a couple weeks of being in foster where he is fed the proper amount of food. Our vet believes he will continue to steadily lose weight with continued proper feeding.

Ollie’s original owner had to give him up after his new housing would not allow dogs and was then adopted by a family where he stayed and was loved for 2 years before their child's health declined and they were unable to keep him. So Ollie is back in rescue and looking for a family.

Ollie is friendly and silly and loves to chew on antlers and nylabones. Despite his weight, he does enjoy being active and can even pull a little on the leash! He is potty trained and crate trained, and he is friendly towards cats. He is currently in foster with multiple other dogs and he is mostly fine with that, but he doesn’t like to share his toys and I think he would prefer to be an only dog.

Ollie is obese due to being massively overfed for nearly his entire life. He has had current bloodwork including a thyroid panel to rule out any underlying issues which all came back normal. He requires an adopter who can acknowledge and accept that his current weight is unhealthy as well as commit to feeding him the proper amount so he can become healthy again and live a long life.

More about this rescue

Working Hounds in the House started as an organization to help retired and decommissioned working hounds find a soft landing after a career in the field. Since starting, we rarely say no to an animal in need if we have the means to safely care for it, so we take many cat and kittens and and recently even rescued a pony!
