Hi guys, I'm Buddy! I am 2 years old, and I have the energy to prove it! I would make a great companion for an active family, though I am your typical shepherd that needs that stimulation and then I can chill out the rest of the night! I am treat motivated, and I love to spend my free time playing ball! When I first came into the shelter, I came in as a stray and had a lot of trouble with my ears, but the staff and veterinarian have taken good care of me, so they are much better now! I will always have the cauliflower ears, but they do not bother me any longer! I am a good boy just looking for a home where we can share lots of attention and lovings! Please come out to meet me today!
I was at the shelter for 10 months before I was recently adopted in September of 2024. It was really weighing on my stress levels. A family came and adopted me into their home, where I lived with cats, another dog and young kids, and I did wonderful with them! I am now housetrained, and they noted that I really do love my ball toys! However, I was returned to the shelter in December of 2024 because my ears started to bother me again. I was immediately taken to the vet and now I am starting hypoallergenic food - Royal Canin Hydrolyzed Protein to see if my ears are caused by general allergies. I am still available for adoption and foster while I go through this process, and the shelter will work with the adopter while we figure this out!

Additional adoption info
Out of county adopters are also welcomed. If needed, spay and neuter vouchers is given and included in adoption price.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
The procedure for adopting one of our animals is as follows:
You walk in, either by appointment or as a walk-in, and our adoption tech will take you to meet the pets. If any of the animals interest you, you can take them out of their cages and spend time with them in a cuddle room or take a walk outside with them (for dogs). Our staff will then answer any questions you may have, explain our trial adoption process to you (explained below) and help you decide if this pet is the perfect fit for your family!
If you are adopting a dog and there is another dog in your home, we ask you to come back for an assisted meet and greet with your current pet!
You then sign our contract and staff will approve of it before asking for your ID and method of payment. Once we have all of the information we need, you can take your pet home! It's that easy!
We try to make the adoption process simple and enjoyable for you and your new pet. Please come in for a visit and give us a try!
Trial Adoption: We highly recommend our trial adoption program where you pay for the pet up front (there is no extra fee for the trial) and then take it home for about 5-7 days (we are flexible with this) to see how it fits in with your lifestyle and other pets in the home. If everything works out, great, just call us and let us know you want to finalize and that is when you receive the microchip number and medical papers as well as a goody bag! If it doesn't work out, you bring the pet back and you will receive a full refund.
Nursery Nanny Program: We also offer a nursery nanny program for our kittens! If you find one you like, you can take it home the same day even if it is not spayed/neutered yet. We ask that you bring it back for the kitten's spay/neuter date and if it needs to return for any vaccinations! We don't finalize the adoption until the kitten has been spayed/neutered and caught up on vaccines.
ADOPTION FEES: $180 for puppies under 9 months, $150 for dogs up to 5 years, $75 for senior dogs, $105 for kittens under 9 months, $95 for adult cats up to 5 years and $65 for senior cats.
Fees include: spay/neuter, microchip & registration, initial vaccines for the year, including the rabies vaccine, and flea & tick and heartworm preventatives
