BEBI NEEDS A FOSTER OR FOREVER HOME!!!!
Name: Bebi Best Guess for Breed: Schnauzer/Terrier
Best Guess for Age: 8 months as of Dec 2024 Gender: Male
Approximate Weight: 31 lbs as of Dec 2024. He's still growing!
Gets Along With: Other dogs! We haven't seen him with cats or kids yet but he can be tested.
Currently Living At: Lucky Dog's South Carolina rescue campus. Bebi will need a foster or adopter once he finishes his heartworm treatment.
Special Adoption Considerations: Bebi is heartworm positive, but this Lucky Dog got extra lucky! This pup is part of a groundbreaking study we are conducting at our South Carolina Rescue Campus that has the potential to change the way shelters across the United States treat heartworm positive dogs. All dogs in the study are placed at random in either the 2 shot or 3 shot protocol with strictly monitored protocols in place. Four weeks following their final injection, the pups are eligible to transport to the DC area for placement in foster or adoptive care. After treatment concludes, we work with adopters to arrange a free follow up heartworm test after 6 months, followed by a second test at 9 months.
We are happy to discuss this treatment and which phase of the study this Lucky Dog is in right now! Just email the adoption coordinator - the address is at lower left!
Dogs from Puerto Rico have a major transition to go through when they arrive and will need humans who are very committed to socialization. We think Bebi would do best with either a resident dog or a family who can make sure he can go on walks regularly with other dogs, visit the dog park, or go to doggie daycare to learn the ropes.
Bebi is Looking For: His forever home! This sweetie landed in the shelter through no fault of his own. He's firmly closed that chapter and is eager to get his new one. The one where he gets his own humans. Where he gets to go on long sniffy walks in the neighborhood, meeting new pup and people pals - and explore the rest of the world! Quality kibble and a cushy dog bed are on his wish list as well, and he wouldn't refuse to try puppacinos and other tasty treats either.
What My Foster Says About Me: Bebi needs a foster!
