My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet our newest super senior, Princess.
This adorable 15-year-old beagle lady
recently lost her owner and found herself at Palm Beach County Animal Care and Control. Luckily, a foster offer came in, and now Princess has joined the South Florida Beagle Rescue pack!

Princess will need extensive care. She's currently battling multiple tumors and ulcers, as well as an infection on her tail and ears, for which she's receiving medication. She's already received a medicated bath, and we're awaiting bloodwork and urine test results to determine the best course of action for her.

Are you ready to open your heart and home to a gentle senior companion? Princess and our other senior beagles will be available for adoption soon! Please keep in mind that seniors require extra TLC, and we're working hard to provide them with necessary surgeries and medical care before adoption.

As seniors come with higher medical costs, we rely on your generosity to continue our mission. If you're able to donate this giving season, please consider supporting our senior beagles. Alternatively, you can sponsor a senior directly - just contact us to arrange! Our seniors are on special diets and supplements, which can be costly. Your support will help us provide the best possible care for Princess and her friends.

Additional adoption info

Beagles make wonderful pets. They are friendly, medium sized, highly social animals. They are considered one of the most family-friendly breeds. Beagles are intelligent but, as a result of being bred for the long chase, are single-minded and determined, which can make them hard to train. They can be difficult to recall once they have picked up a scent, and are easily distracted by smells around them.

Beagles love to play and do require more exercise than some other breeds and in most cases are considered moderate to highly active between puppyhood to about 3 years old. After they turn 3, beagles tend to "mature" and become couch potatoes! Exercise is “key” to having a happy and healthy dog. Keep in mind as beagles get older they tend to gain weight.
