My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Tuppence moves to the rhythm of her own drum, a captivating beat that will make you want to dance along. Her story is nothing short of remarkable; she's a true miracle. Overflowing with love, playfulness, and a delightful touch of goofiness, Tuppence is a bundle of joy.

What makes her even more extraordinary is her journey as a distemper survivor. Distemper is a highly contagious and often fatal disease, notorious for its devastating effects on multiple body systems. Tuppence's resilience and strength shone through when she faced this formidable foe. Despite it all, she emerged victorious, defying the odds.

While distemper survivors often bear permanent and irreparable nervous system damage, Tuppence exhibits unique quirks, such as occasional twitches and teeth chattering. These idiosyncrasies only add to her charm, making her even more endearing. In the company of Tuppence, you'll discover a source of pure joy. She adores people, gets along well with most dogs, and radiates a contagious positivity.

This little miracle, with her indomitable spirit, deserves a loving home like yours today!

More about this shelter

Acadiana Animal Aid (AAA) is the region’s leader in animal transport, adoption, and education. We provide a safe place to land for animals at risk of euthanasia before they take off to their adoptive homes. For 48 years, AAA has played a vital role in saving animals from impoverished, resource-deprived communities. We transfer in pets at risk of euthanasia from municipal shelters throughout the state, provide veterinary and daily care, and create pathways to their futures. AAA is known locally and nationally for its lifesaving strategies to reduce the euthanasia rate of shelter pets in Louisiana. Our commitment to saving our region’s pets runs deep – in 2022, we saved nearly 2,000 cats and dogs through local adoptions.
