My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hello there, I'm Poppy! I'm young, full of life, and always ready for a new adventure. I love playing with toys and chasing after laser pointers. It's so much fun! When I'm not busy exploring, I'm quite the cuddle bug. I love to snuggle up and purr, it's my way of showing affection. I'm friendly too, always ready to make new friends. I've got a lot of love to give and I'm hoping to share it with someone like you. If you're looking for a sweet, playful, and cuddly companion, then I'm your cat. Adopt me and let's start our forever friendship.

More about this shelter

The Humane Society of Scott County (HSSC) has been an advocate for the humane care of all animals in Scott County, Iowa, since 1902.

An average of 500 pets arrive at the HSSC each month. About 80% come to us as strays and the rest are surrendered by owners who can no longer keep or care for their pets.

The HSSC is a non-profit 501(c) 3 organization funded entirely by donations, adoption fees and a fee charged to the city and county for the care of the animals.
