Meet Roman, a gentle and timid soul who is slowly discovering the world around him. While the world can feel a bit overwhelming at times, with the right guidance and patience, Roman is blossoming into a playful, loving companion. Currently in foster care, he's experiencing all kinds of new things-from the hum of airplanes and lawnmowers to the excitement of squirrels and other dogs. Though Roman is naturally nervous, once he starts to feel comfortable, he shows a willingness to learn and adapt. He loves sleeping in his kennel at night, where he feels safe, and is making progress with house training. His playful side is starting to shine through as he becomes more energetic, especially when he's around his favorite toys, which he absolutely adores!
Roman is searching for a calm, patient home where he can continue to build confidence. He thrives on routine and reassurance, and with your love and support, he'll flourish into your best friend. If you're looking for a dog who needs a little extra care but will reward you with loyalty and affection, Roman might be the perfect match for you. Reach out today to learn more about this sweet boy and how you can welcome him into your home!

We welcome all adopters and are here to make the process as smooth and enjoyable as possible. Start your adoption journey today and see how a shelter pet can change your life!
We’d love for you to meet our amazing animals! Visitors are welcome to come by anytime to see our cats, but to ensure the best match for both you and the pets, a few steps are needed to meet them up close or to meet our dogs.
Here’s how it works:
1. Submit an Application: Before meeting any of our cats or dogs, please fill out an adoption application online or at the shelter.
2. Schedule a Meet-and-Greet: Once your application is submitted, we’ll schedule a one-on-one meet-and-greet with the animal you’re interested in. We do our best to accommodate same-day visits, but due to space and staffing, scheduling ahead is the best way to ensure your time with your potential new pet.
Whether you’re ready to adopt or just want to learn more about the process, our team is here to help. We can’t wait to introduce you to your new furry family member!

More about this shelter
The City of Great Falls Animal Shelter has been proudly serving pets and people since 2007, when the city took over operations from the Humane Society. Since then, we’ve worked hard to create a safe, welcoming space for homeless and lost animals. We are honored to be designated as a no-kill shelter by the Best Friends Animal Society, reflecting our commitment to saving lives and ensuring every adoptable animal has a chance to thrive.
Our mission is threefold:
- Reuniting Families: We help lost pets find their way back home.
- Finding Forever Homes: Every animal deserves a loving family, and we’re dedicated to making that happen.
- Community Impact: While we’re still growing our programs, we’re proud to host free rabies and microchip clinics for canines to help keep our community’s pets healthy and safe.
We’re a small, city-run team with a big heart, and we rely on the incredible support of our volunteers and donors to keep tails wagging. Every contribution—whether it’s fostering, volunteering, or donating—helps us make a difference.
