My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

How this pet arrived:
This pet was brought in by our Humane Law Enforcement team on 12/18/24.

Why this pet is the one for you:
Meet Pikes Peak Purple, a charming male guinea pig looking for a new home along with his bestie, A-Maize-Ing Iowa (#936473)! These two peas in a pod are sweet and curious little guys who love to explore their surroundings and snack on fresh veggies. They have limited experience with handling, so they will need adopters who are patient and allow them to adjust at their own pace. A-Maize-Ing Iowa and Pikes Peak Purple will thrive with a large enclosure with plenty of space to roam, lots of hay for munching and cozy spots to relax. They would appreciate a gentle and attentive owner who can provide them with daily interaction and enrichment. If you're looking for a wonderful addition to your family, come by our El Cajon Campus and adopt A-Maize-Ing Iowa and Pikes Peak Purple today!

More about this shelter

San Diego Humane Society, an open-admission shelter, is creating a more humane world by inspiring compassion and advancing the welfare of animals and people. Our lifesaving safety net has helped San Diego become the largest city in the U.S. to keep healthy and treatable shelter animals from being euthanized. We are a private, independent, nonprofit organization that is not affiliated with any other humane society or society for the prevention of cruelty to animals.

With campuses in El Cajon, Escondido, Oceanside, Ramona and San Diego, we provide animal services for 14 cities within San Diego County. We not only care for 50,000 animals in our communities but also share the expertise we have gained through our innovative programs with shelters nationwide so they can save more lives in their communities.

While our influence is expanding nationally, our top priority is meeting the needs of San Diego. We provide exceptional care for all animals through world-class veterinary medicine, shelter and most of all: love.
