Meet Gertrude! She is a 2-year-old little pocket pittie girl who is on the lookout for her forever family. Gertrude was a stray before finding her way to the shelter, so would benefit from a patient family up for helping build her confidence with structure and routine. She is a nervous little girl but is slowly coming out of her shell and learning that humans aren't all scary. She has even started playing! She really wants to be a lap dog but just isn't quite sure how to get there. At this stage in her journey, she would be best as the only pet in the home while she bonds with her people to see what personality really blossoms.

We ask that the applicant first complete an online application. Each application must meet the approval of Pope Memorial SPCA of Concord Merrimack County policies prior to adoption.

We ask that anyone in need of surrendering an animal call for an appointment. Our name reflects our geographic service area, not a governmental body. We are a nonprofit agency dependent on private donations and are not supported by tax dollars. As a "special admission" shelter we accept all animals in need, but we do utilize an appointment policy to ensure there is space for all incoming animals. Thanks to a dedicated and caring staff and volunteers, and the monetary contributions of so many compassionate individuals and businesses in our community, we offer our animals the best of care as they await their new forever home.
