Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Melvin was spotted roaming the streets in a Somerset neighborhood. Easily trapped, originally it was thought he'd be a colony kitty and therefore his ear was gently 'tipped' when he was neutered.
However Melvin is certainly not a boy who should be a colony resident. He's far too sweet and playful for colony life.
Melvin is a young adult that is a little shy but very loving. You must approach cautiously, -- don't go running after him to pick him up because he WILL run. Let him come to you and get used to you. It's important everyone in the household let him get used to them so he won't be afraid. It's clear that he's encountered some "not-so-nice" people in his young life!
He loves to play with wand toys, toy mice, balls with bells or little beads inside of them that make a little noise. He loves tunnels and a cat tree a must. He would love to be able to look out the window for hours on end. He loves to be petted gently. He is a beautiful sweet boy that will make someone a wonderful companiion if given time to adjust.
He gets along with other gentle cats and loves kittens. He's like the big brother to all.
Melvin is fully vaccinated and neutered. He will be microchipped prior to adoption.

After you complete an application, there are several things that we will do:
1. We will check your personal references. Please be sure to list two personal references and include a phone number and an email address. (form asks for one; but I like two)
2. If you do not own your place of residence, we will call your landlord or leasing office. Please check with them first to learn about their pet policy.
3. We will call your veterinarian for a reference. We are looking for a history of annual exams, vaccines maintained routinely, annual heartworm tests and monthly preventatives. We require the following:
* All pets in the home must be spayed or neutered.
* If your pet is not up to date on vaccines, please do not submit the application until you have scheduled an appointment with the vet to get your pets current on their vaccines.
4. If you are a 1st-time pet owner, please include the name and phone number of the veterinarian you plan to use.
5. Be sure to call your Vet(s), giving them permission to speak with us.
6. We may need to do a home visit prior to approving your application, or post-adoption.
If these policies and practices are not acceptable, please do not apply.
