Recently rescued from a crowded public shelter, Granite is grateful to be out of a cage. He is very affectionate and loves to talk and will meow and give strong, sweet headbutts until he gets the attention that he wants. This 4 yr old boy is definitely a big softy who enjoys being brushed and just loves canned food. We believe Granite is a Nebelung/Maine coon mix. Nebelungs are related to the Russian Blue, but with longer, silkier hair, and is in fact sometimes called the Long-haired Russian Blue. Granite is a helpful work assistant, carefully picking out just the right pen and then settling in on the floor deep in thought. At 5pm he is quick to wake up, sit on the computer and remind you the work day is over and he is ready for dinner! In the morning he spends time watching birds and squirrels. At night, he enjoys sitting on the couch and watching TV. While currently untested with other cats/dog, we think he'd do well with both with a slow introduction. Meet him in Arlington, VA. We strive to make the "purr-fect" match through our interview and application process. Adoption fees, which range from $165-$185, include all medical work (FELV/FIV testing, shots; spay/neuter, etc); home visits may be required prior to final placement. The majority of our kittens are only available for adoption in pairs or as a companion to another young cat/kitten already in the home. Sorry, but we do not adopt very young kittens to families with children under 6 yrs old due to safety concerns for both child and kitten. Adopters also receive a certificate for a free comprehensive wellness exam at any Caring Hands Animal Hospital.

More about this rescue
We are a small, private feline-only rescue group dedicated to the rescue, care and placement of homeless cats and kittens. We do not have a shelter and rely on a group of dedicated foster homes to care for our felines until a "fur-ever" home can be found. We actively promote the importance of spaying and neutering and best practices in companion animal care. The majority of our cats/kittens come from high-kill shelters. We do not receive any government funding and rely on private contributions, 100% of which go to provide medical care, food and supplies.
