BEANIE NEEDS A FOREVER HOME!!!!
Come meet Beanie and other great adoptable dogs this Sunday (12/29/24) from 12-3 pm at the PetSmart in Alexandria (3351 Richmond Hwy, Alexandria, VA 22305)!
Name: Beanie Best Guess for Breed: Shepherd and retriever mix
Best Guess for Age: 1.5 years as of November 2024 Gender: Female
Approximate Weight: 37 lbs
Gets Along With: Other dogs! We haven't seen her with kids or cats but she can be tested if you have them.
Currently Living At: DC area boarding partner; would love a foster while looking for her forever home!
Special Adoption Considerations: Beanie is heartworm positive, but this Lucky Dog got extra lucky! This pup is part of a groundbreaking study we are conducting at our South Carolina Rescue Campus that has the potential to change the way shelters across the United States treat heartworm positive dogs. All dogs in the study are placed at random in either the 2 shot or 3 shot protocol with strictly monitored protocols in place. Four weeks following their final injection, the pups are eligible to transport to the DC area for placement in foster or adoptive care. After treatment concludes, we work with adopters to arrange a free follow up heartworm test after 6 months, followed by a second test at 9 months.
We are happy to discuss this treatment and which phase of the study this Lucky Dog is in right now! Just email the adoption coordinator - the address is at lower left!
Beanie is Looking For:Her forever home! This sweetie came into our care nursing two puppies. She was a super good mama and they went off to get their own forever families. Beanie is in her prime, with all that awesome young-dog energy and she's eager to start her new life with her own humans for long sniffy walks, romps in parks, and all the adventures they can dream up.
More than that, she wants to be safe and loved and under her own roof. She wants to know where she belongs and upon whom to bestow all the adoring gazes and tail wags she's stockpiling. What do you say? Is Beanie the loyal companion you can see by your side?
What My Foster Says About Me: We will update this once she has spent more time with her foster.
Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken. All of our dogs are working on their crate training.
TO ADOPT: The adoption fee for this dog is $475, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations, spay/neuter, and heartworm treatment. If you are interested in adopting, please complete the Adoption Questionnaire online at bit.ly/adoptaluckydog
