Come meet Sherlock and other great adoptable dogs this Saturday (01/04) from 12-2 pm at the Petco in Fairfax, VA (10708 Fairfax Blvd, Fairfax, VA 22030)!
Name: Sherlock Best Guess for Breed: Lab Mix
Best Guess for Age: 5 years as of 10/23/24 Gender: Male
Approximate Weight: 41 lbs
Gets Along With: Other dogs. We haven't seen him with kids or cats but he can be tested!
Currently Living At: DC area boarding partner - would love a foster home while he waits for his forever family!
Sherlock is Looking For: Looking for a partner in crime-solving snuggles? Look no further! Sherlock is on the case—the case of finding his forever home, and he’s deducing that it just might be with you!
This clever boy is a master of sniffing out treats, solving the mystery of where the best belly rubs are, and uncovering clues about the best sunspots for naps. His favorite pastime? Investigating the backyard, looking for the source of that curious squirrel activity!
Sherlock is a loyal sidekick who’s always ready to fetch you some joy. Whether it’s a game of puzzle-solving with his toys or simply cuddling up for a good detective show, Sherlock will be the Watson to your Holmes—always by your side!
Adopt Sherlock, and let him hound his way into your heart.
What My Foster Says About Me: His name may be Sherlock, but this happy guy looks more like Tails from Sonic when he sees his favorite human. His tail wags in full circles! He is a sweet boy with a great temperament toward dogs and has loved the kids he met on walks (squirrels maybe not so much). He is gentle on walks, doesn’t mind his crate, and sleeps through the night, so he is ready to be your biggest adventure buddy in the day! He loves playing at the dog park and trying not to trip over his many fabulous squeaky toys. He’s looking for a fun loving family who is excited to teach him his basic commands and play :)
Medical: Sherlock is heartworm positive, but this Lucky Dog got extra lucky! This pup is part of a groundbreaking study we are conducting at our South Carolina Rescue Campus that has the potential to change the way shelters across the United States treat heartworm positive dogs. All dogs in the study are placed at random in either the 2 shot or 3 shot protocol with strictly monitored protocols in place. Four weeks following their final injection, the pups are eligible to transport to the DC area for placement in foster or adoptive care. After treatment concludes, we work with adopters to arrange a free follow up heartworm test after 6 months, followed by a second test at 9 months.
We are happy to discuss this treatment and which phase of the study this Lucky Dog is in right now! Just email the adoption coordinator - the address is at lower left!
Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken. All of our dogs are working on their crate training.
TO ADOPT: The adoption fee for this dog is $475, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations, spay/neuter, and heartworm treatment. If you are interested in adopting, please complete the Adoption Questionnaire online at bit.ly/adoptaluckydog
Lucky Dog Animal Rescue does our best to provide accurate information about the dogs we have for adoption. That said, we cannot make any guarantees about age, breed or temperament.
