My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Buddy was clearly named after the only thing he wants in the world, and the one thing he's absolutely devastated to be without -- a buddy all his own.
Buddy was the constant, devoted companion of an elderly man who recently passed away.
In the weeks following his person's funeral, Buddy warmly greeted all the friends and family members who came to handle the estate, but mostly, he sat on his person's favorite chair, waiting for his buddy to come home. Buddy has no experience with little children. It is recommended that children he comes into contact with be 12 years of age or older.
Nobody could take Buddy in, so now he's here, lonely and confused.
It's very clear that Buddy is mourning the loss of his person and his home. He just looks so sad, and he cries when he's alone.
Buddy is so grateful when we sit with him. He's calm, gentle, and just so happy to be spoken to or petted.
We tell him everything's going to be ok, that his forever person or family is coming.
PLEASE help make everything ok for Buddy! If you're looking for a chill, easy-going, affectionate companion, Buddy is waiting for you! He needs to go home and find a new chair to sit in, or next to, with his forever buddy by his side.
Buddy is a 4-year-old hound mix, about 58 pounds (but he could stand to lose a few of those pounds -- a New Year's Resolution Buddy!).
Buddy would love to meet you any day between 9am and noon (including weekends and holidays). He's at Animal Aid Society, 80 Butler Farm Road, Hampton, VA.
Interested? Come for a visit any day of the week - 365 days a year between 9am - 12pm. Hope to see you soon!

PLEASE NOTE: Animal Aid Society observes a 40 mile adoption radius to facilitate post adoption support and follow ups.

Additional adoption info

If all goes well and you decide to pursue adoption, you will be asked to complete a pre-adopt. Once your family, including any dogs, have also met with the dog you wish to adopt, your application will be submitted to the Adoption Committee for review. We estimate the pre-adoption process can take up to 14 days or longer.

Please note: AAS is committed to finding the best fit for each of our dogs. For this reason, we will accept multiple applications for a dog. In the case of multiple applications, we will select the applicant that is the best fit based on the needs of the dog.

Adoption fee for puppy/adult dogs is $300.00.
Adoption fee for senior dogs is $150.00.

Dogs qualify as a senior based on their stature/weight and age. The scale below shows the age at which a dog attains “senior” designation:
