Meet Blitzen: A Brave Pup Ready to Shine
Blitzen is a courageous 10-week-old male Husky who has already shown the world that he’s a true survivor. Found heartlessly discarded in a dumpster at the Texas border, Blitzen’s start in life was anything but easy. But even in the face of adversity, this little guy has proven that no challenge is too big for his resilient spirit.
When Blitzen was rescued, he was scared and hungry, but his will to live and his affectionate nature quickly shone through. Despite his rough beginning, Blitzen’s playful energy and joyful personality are evident in everything he does. Now safe and loved, he’s blossoming into the loving, energetic pup he was always meant to be.
Blitzen’s journey has only just begun, and he’s ready to share his boundless love with a family that will cherish him forever. His story of survival is one of hope and the power of second chances—proof that no matter the past, every pup deserves a future filled with love, joy, and happiness.
As an adoption fee-based rescue, we do not operate on monthly support or fundraisers. Our adoption fee of $650 (Non-Refundable) covers transport, which is arranged post-adoption, and is tax-deductible as we are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Should you wish to arrange your own transport, the adoption fee remains the same. Thank you for your valuable support.

We are friends that worked together at the Texas Department of Public Safety for many years.
We both have worked with rescue and fostered many dogs and cats. We started this nonprofit with a few more friends to assist and are very appreciative of all the support and help for the animals we all love. OPERATION BARKING SQUIRREL is a Texas registered nonprofit and 501.3 (c) that is seeking to fill the gaps in dog and cat rescue. We believe that all pets in rescue deserve a home of their own and we want to make that happen. We all see the pets that have been surrendered or dumped in Texas due to age, breed and no microchip to get them back to their parent, and, sometimes, no transportation to get them home.
Starting with senior and long term fosters dogs and cats,
we are promoting available dogs and cats that might be over looked because of their age or foster status.
The second gap is lack of microchips and microchip registration.
It is our goal to microchip and register at least 50 dogs or cats a month. Microchips can be expensive and we would prefer to offer free chips for all. For that to happen we need more funding. All pets should be chipped so they can make it back home, but unfortunately that isn't reality. We want to make that happen.Third gap is transportation.
You fall in love with a dog or cat to realize they are a state away or more. That's when you check the costs and realize how expensive transport is. We are USDA Certified Transporters and will offer low cost transportation or help fundraise for an individual trip.
