My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Milo is the definition of resilient! He didn't get exposure to much during his first year of life, but since moving to Colorado 2 weeks ago, he has learned how to be an inside dog and walk on a leash! Once he knows you, he is happy to follow you around the house and keep you company. He is still new to leash walking, but he is doing great! He walks next to his foster siblings perfectly and will walk next to his foster mom if the other dogs are off leash. He has taken some hikes with his foster, and did great! We're sticking to less busy trails while he's still getting used to everything, but I'm sure he'll work up to busy trails soon!
Milo hasn't shown any signs of resource guarding and is happy to share his space/toys/etc with the other dogs. His kennel is his safe space and he's happy to sleep there and hang out whenever his foster isn't home. He has never had an accident at his foster home and is fully potty trained. Milo is very quiet and hos foster has never heard him bark.

Milo currently lives with a 10 year old and a 3 year old dog, and does great with both of them. He seems to read their energy and adjusts his actions accordingly. When one of the dogs wants to play, he's happy to play but when the other dogs want to be left alone, he doesn't bother them.

He really watches and learns from the other dogs in his foster home, so we're looking for a forever home that has at least one other dog. He doesnt need a ton of exercise each day but would love to join you for whatever plans you have!

He's made a lot of progress but he's still a little quirky, so we're looking for the right fit that will help him blossom even more and love him for his quirks. He hasn't shown any signs of aggression (even when he's pushed) but he will shy away from touch from even people he knows. Milo will lay next to people he knows, but it should be on his terms. He would be happiest in a calmer house without small kids because they would probably overwhelm him. If you and your dog(s) have the patience to help Milo learn all about how fun life as a pet can be, it will be so rewarding!

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

We are doggie and kitty match-makers. We do everything in our power to assure that our dogs or cats will thrive in your environment.

Please start by submitting an application to adopt on our website. We do our best to respond to all applications but do to the number of applications received, this may always not be possible.

If you, your family and your lifestyle look like a good fit for the personality and needs of the animal, there's a phone call to chat and answer any additional questions. From there we will arrange a no-obligation meet and greet, where the animal could then go home with you, provided it is a good fit for all involved! (All this can happen within a week's time!)

A contract is signed at time of adoption. If for ANY reason you are unable to keep your companion, we quite passionately INSIST the animal be returned to us and NOT dropped in a shelter. We would happily take any of our adoptions back if it proves NOT a good fit for your family. :-)

Adoption fees include spay/neuter, microchip, basic vaccinations, (including rabies if old enough), deworming, rescue and transport costs, other medical services as needed (which can include but not limited to skin scrape, fecal exam, x-ray, amputation and hospitalization). Felines additionally receive an felv/fiv test and checked for ringworm with the Woods lamp prior to transport.

Adoption fees may vary due to special health circumstances, but typically start with...adult dogs (1 year and older): $425; puppies: $475; adult cats (1 year and older): $175; kittens: $250.

Go meet their pets

We are a foster based rescue ~ we DO NOT have a physical shelter at the moment. All of our dogs and cats reside in foster homes all throughout the Front Range and the Western Slope of Colorado. We have adoption events regularly at Petsmart stores in Denver, CO. If we do not have an event scheduled, we can arrange a time for you to meet one of our animals available for adoption.

More about this rescue

We relocate dogs and cats from high-intake shelters, animal control facilities, and reservations in the Four Corners area to animal rescue partners and forever homes in Colorado. We provide transportation to foster homes and other partner organizations, offer medical care and low/no cost spay and neuter services, manage a network of foster homes for temporary shelter, and run adoption events so that these animals can find forever homes.

Since March of 2012, we have transported thousands of at-risk dogs and cats to safety, solely on generous donations from caring individuals like you who see how dire the need is in and around the Navajo reservation.
