My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi, I’m Gigi! I’m a spunky little black kitten with speckles of grey that make me look extra unique. I’ll be the first one in your lap, purring like crazy, and then—zoom!—your arm becomes a toy! I switch from cuddle mode to play mode in seconds, so you’ll never be bored with me around.

I’ve had a bit of a rough start. I was rescued from an outdoor cat colony with over 25 cats and kittens, and I was super sick at first. My right eye looks a little “off” because I needed surgery to fix a defective eyelid, and my tail has a funny shape because of a run-in with ringworm. But none of that slowed me down—I am now healthy, happy, and ready to bring so much love to my forever home.

I’m insanely loving, full of personality, and I promise I’ll be your best little buddy. Can I come home with you?

More about this rescue

The Heart of America Humane Society is an all-volunteer, 501(c)3 non-profit organization helping to place shelter and foster animals into permanent homes in and around the greater Kansas City metro area.

Our goal is to save and improve the lives of Kansas City's homeless companion animals by promoting responsible pet ownership. The Heart of America Humane Society (HAHS) partners with the Lee's Summit Animal Shelter (Lee's Summit MO) and KCK Animal Services (Kansas City KS) to increase pet adoptions into responsible, permanent homes.

Background
Our organization does not have a permanent facility or paid staff, so many of our adoptions take place at PetSmart stores and occasionally through other event venues. Some events raise awareness and bring in donations for our animal support efforts, while others help acknowledge and show appreciation for our own volunteers (who perform all duties outside of their regular jobs). Visit our website to learn more about us at heartofamericahs.org.
