Check out our sister brand, Kinship, for vet chat, a nutrition calculator, basic obedience training, and (much) more. So you're never flying solo in this pet parenting thing.
Kelvin is a sweet and laidback gentleman who appreciates the quieter moments in life. While he may prefer to tuck himself away in a cozy hiding spot, his heart is open to connection. With a gentle touch and a bit of patience, Kelvin will emerge for his favorite treat: a loving cheek scratch!
Kelvin has Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV), which means they will be more susceptible to infection and will need to live out their life indoors. However, another FIV+ cat would be a great companion for them! Don't worry, EHS staff will provide you with all the information you need.
If you're looking for a mellow, low-key companion who values his personal space but still enjoys affectionate moments, Kelvin could be the perfect addition to your home. Contact the adoptions team to set up a meet, and see if Kelvin is the right fit for you! To help FIV cats find their perfect home, adoption fees for cats with this condition are by a donation of your choice, instead of our standard adoption fees.

Before you Adopt
Pet adoption is a big commitment. We encourage you to spend considerable time thinking about and researching the type of pet most suitable to your family. Most breeds have their own characteristic traits and specific needs which need to be considered. Remember that some animals have lifespans of 20 years or more.
Prospective adopters will meet the following requirements:
- You must be at least 18 years old.
- You must have two pieces of identification, with at least one showing your current address and a picture.
- ALL FAMILY MEMBERS, sometimes including family pets, must be present during the adoption process.
- If you already have a dog and are considering adopting another one, you MUST be prepared to bring your current family dog to the interview. This will help you to determine if all family members and existing pets will get along with the new pet.
- If you live in rental accommodations, please confirm that your landlord allows the type of pet you are considering, and that you have paid your pet deposit before you adopt. There are NO REFUNDS OR EXCHANGES if the building owner does not accept the animal. In addition, you will have to pay all regular surrender fees if you need to return the animal to the Edmonton Humane Society.
If you are looking to adopt a dog or puppy please note:
Some of the dogs on our web site have recommendations on the age of younger family members. These restrictions are placed out of the concern of the dogs as well as in consideration of families.
Remember that new animals arrive every day. You may have to return to the shelter a number of times before you find a good match. It is better to wait and come back again than it is to take home an animal who does not suit your lifestyle
