My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet little ray of sunshine, Bea! Bea is suspected to have been born stray, and was caught by a good samaritan. Since coming to Furgiven, she has blossomed and has absolutely stolen the hearts of our staff. At six years old, her favorite activities include playing with her friends outside, napping in the sun, and going for walks at various parks around the city. Her leash skills are excellent, she is a follower and seeks guidance.

Bea has a very special, tender personality, and is very easy to be around. Her time on the streets left much to be desired, and made the world seem scary. She loves everyone on our team dearly, wags her tail a mile-a-minute, runs over to be pet, and never says no to laying on the couch in our living room for a belly rub. With strangers, she is nervous, kind, and seeks to her people for guidance. Her perfect owner is someone who is understanding of the fact that Bea will take a little bit of time to fall in love with them, but that once she builds trust and does, a mountain of love will follow.

Bea is perfect for someone who prefers to be at home, but enjoys having a dog to get them out of the house for walks. She is happy to wait for you at home while you go to work, and would absolutely love to have a dog friend in the home. Other dogs give Bea a huge boost in confidence, and she loves to trot behind them. She is also cat friendly. A fenced backyard is a requirement for Bea, to ensure she remains safe while building a relationship with her forever family.

Best personality traits: Likes to please, listens well, settles easily indoors, has an incredible love for life, tail wags and happy trots, you can see her heart opening up as she starts to give you head butts and kisses while building trust, she's a gentle soul.

Apply for Bea today, and make her an incredible addition to your family.

More about this shelter

Furgiven Animal Sanctuary (“FAS”) is a nonprofit, no-kill organization dedicated to creating second-chance opportunities for dogs overlooked.

Our focus lies in partnering with public shelters to prevent the euthanasia of dogs and local no-kill shelters to transition their long-term, left-behind dogs to a sanctuary where they can be a priority regardless of age, breed, or ease of placement.

At FAS, we believe that providing a more intimate, individual atmosphere for dogs in these specific circumstances increases their chances of finding forever homes while promoting the animal-human bond within our community of the Greater Midsouth, Tri-State area.

In addition to being a sanctuary for dogs overlooked, FAS assists (through scheduled events) with providing free or discounted veterinary services, low-cost spay/neuter clinics, as well as training and support services for current or future pet owners and advocates.

Our comprehensive adoption process and support services promote thoughtful, healthy relationships among animals and adopters and offer lifetime support to our residents. Animals in our care are spayed/neutered, receive all necessary treatments, vaccinations, and veterinary care for the duration of their time with us, regardless of adoption status.
