My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Vanilla Bean is a quiet, agreeable and adorable mixed breed dog weighing in at roughly 40lbs with an estimated birthdate of 05/16/2023. She came to Murci's Mission from our partners at SCRAPS after being rescued from a hoarding situation.

Vanilla arrived very fearful and needed a lot of time to just settle in with her newborn baby Marshmallow, but now that she's sure she's safe, she's letting her guard down and learning how to have a good time. While she will likely always be a touch on the shy side, she's having a heck of a good time with other dogs, and she's cat and kid friendly. She is also crate trained, leash trained, and making outstanding progress on house training, now having very few toilet accidents.

Vanilla Bean's ideal family could be an active and adventurous one, or one who likes to take it easy, and she would thrive with either as long as they hold her accountable to continue to make social progress and learn more skills.

Vanilla is scheduled for spay on 01/21/2024 and she can go home any time after that date. She comes spayed, vaccinated, microchipped and dewormed. Her adoption fee is $200 and includes her leash, collar, ID tag, food sample, and medical records. Once your application has been received, we will evaluate it as a potential match for the given animal and, if your application is selected, we will proceed to call your references and then conclude with a home check and meet and greet scheduled by you at your home. For applicants out of area, the home check may be conducted via video call before the meet and greet.

More about this rescue

From the day we could talk we told our pets more than we ever told our parents. We took the long route to see the kitty in the window down the street. We stopped even when we were late to pet the dog. We grew up and we saw what the world does to those who can't defend themselves. We are here to change that.

Ethical rescue, including fully vetting every animal and carefully placing them all into homes matched to their physical and mental needs is what we do.

Respecting all life, both animal and human, while retaining an underlying goal of keeping animals in their homes. and fostering a sense of community between local shelters and rescues is how we do it.
