When a 3 legged lady limped her way into the local municipal shelter, she proved to all her life was indeed worth saving. Animal League America was delighted to escort her to Bianca’s Furry Friends where she’s been promised the safety and love that’s been missing since she was left abandoned on the cold city streets. She’s returning our kindness with oodles of gratitude. While you might find her sneakily observing visitors from a safe cubby, just a small welcome is all the enticement she needs to skip over to collect some ear rubs from you. Mila has put the trials of her past behind her; she’s ready to create new memories with you!

When you come down to NSALA an associate will help you figure out what kind of animal will do best in your situation. At that point they will take out the animals you are interested in so that you may get to know them. You will have plenty of time to play and interact with your new friend in our family friendly areas designated for that purpose. When you decide you want to adopt, an associate will help you fill out an application.

Our adoption fees are as follows:
Puppies (up to 6 months) $350
Adult Dogs (over 6 months) $100
Puppy Mill Rescues $250
Small Breed & Pure Breeds (over 6 months) $250
Kittens (up to 6 months) $100
Double Kittens $150
Adult Cats (over 6 months) $50
Double Adult Cats $75

Where applicable, a $50 Spay/Neuter deposit is required for kittens, $75 for puppies.

Our Adoption Center, is open every Thursday-Sunday 12pm-8pm. On average, our shelter is home to 350 dogs, cats, puppies, and kittens. Behind the scenes, the Adoption Center contains a nursery area, medical examination room and a grooming area where new admissions are health checked, vaccinated, bathed and groomed.

Visitors are reminded that adoption is a lifelong commitment. After selecting a pet, each potential adopter is thoroughly screened, ensuring each adopter recognizes the life-changing commitment a new pet can be. To date, over 1,000,000 pet owners have met our high standards and adopted a pet from North Shore Animal League America.
