My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Bobby / Male / 2.5 years old / 15 lbs / Chihuahua Mix / Good with Dogs / No cats please / From Mexico / Fostered in Toronto

** Follow Bobby’s journey on Instagram @fosterthedogss **

Meet Bobby! Bobby came to us from Mexico and is ready to find his forever home. Bobby is described by his fosters as sweet, curious and playful. He loves to go for walks, play with his stuffed animals and cuddle up on the couch. Bobby is a perfectly portable companion, weighing in at a light 15lbs, with his expressive ears making up 75% of his body weight!

Bobby is loving to his trusted humans. He looks to them for reassurance when he is feeling nervous. With new people, Bobby is curious, but can be a bit apprehensive and vocal. He will take time to warm up. Bobby is good at taking his space until he feels comfortable. Bobby has not met children, but given his size and personality we think he would do well with respectful, dog-savvy children.

Bobby is looking for a home in a quieter area, as loud noises can make him nervous. High traffic, busier neighbourhoods would take him longer to feel comfortable in. Bobby is adaptable and would do well in any type of home, whether a house with a yard, or an apartment. As long as he has his humans and access to green space, Bobby will do great.

Bobby is very dog social, especially with dogs his size. He loves to meet other dogs on walks and gets very excited to see them. Bobby would benefit from a canine sibling to help his confidence and to have a playmate. Bobby has not been introduced to cats yet, but given his love of squirrels we think it is bets for him to be in a cat free home at this time.

Bobby is on the lower side of medium energy and will need at least two walks daily as well as some canine enrichment. Bobby walks well on leash, but can be nervous of large vehicles and loud noises. He loves to explore the neighbourhood and take in all the smells. When in the house, Bobby loves to play with his toys, and is learning the enjoyment of enrichment.

Bobby has been making great progress with his house manners. He is crate trained, potty trained and working in his commands. His new family should be prepared to continue his training and support him with any regressions while he gets used to his new home. Bobby loves treats, so will be an easy candidate to work with.

Additional adoption info

To adopt one of our dogs, please fill out an application at https://www.fetchandreleash.ca/adoption-info#adoption-form. Although we do our best to reply to all inquiries within 72 hours, please remember we are a volunteer-run organization. We appreciate your patience.

If we think your application has potential to be a good fit, a Fetch + Releash volunteer will contact you to set up a time to speak over the phone and conduct the home visit. In addition to the phone interview and home visit, we also require personal, veterinarian, and landlord reference if applicable.

After the phone interview, home visit & reference check, you will then be granted a private meet and greet with the dog.

After the meet and greet, the adoption committee will then review your completed application and make a final decision.

More about this rescue

Established in 2016, Fetch + Releash is a volunteer run dog rescue dedicated to saving dogs in need. Our foster dogs come from a variety of different backgrounds such as shelters, strays and surrendered pets, both locally and abroad. Through our network of volunteers, foster homes, trainers and veterinarians, we strive to give every dog the loving forever family they deserve. As a foster-based rescue, our dogs live in private homes across the Greater Toronto Area where they receive the love and attention they need to ready them for adoption.

A dog is a lifetime commitment and not to be discarded due to health, lifestyle change or inconvenience. Some of the top reasons dogs end up in shelters are lack of training, lifestyle changes (i.e. new baby, marriage), relocation, cost of dog ownership, not enough time for pet etc. Our goal is to ensure our adoptive families are well versed in the realities of dog ownership and ready to make a lifetime commitment.
