My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Thank you for your interest in dog who needs a new home.  Adoption can be one of the most fulfilling experiences in your life and especially in the life of your new canine companion.

A note to those looking at CPR.  We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone.  Our job is to find those someone's.  Our most successful adopters come to CPR not because they want a dog.  They come to us because they want to give a dog a home.  We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture.  While we like to know what you like in looks, a dog is more than a pretty face.  Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home.  We want to create furever families.

Our descriptions contain all that we know about this dog today.  We'll update as more information is known.

Are you looking to adopt within the next 30 days?  If so please visit our webpage at www.carolinapoodlerescue.org and complete the application.  You'll find it in the menu on the left hand side.  You'll also find a total listing of all our dogs available.

Just browsing but interested in poodles and poodle mixes?  Please drop a note to applications@carolinapoodlerescue.org with your name, address and phone # and email.  We'll add you to our mailing list.

thanks
the CPR Adoption team

What kind of home would be best for me? Meet Jagger, your new best friend!

Jagger is a handsome five-year-old Standard Poodle who came to us as an owner surrender. He’s had the experience of living in a home before, so he knows how wonderful it can be to be part of a loving family. Now, Jagger is looking for his forever home – one where he can receive all the love, attention, and care he deserves. Jagger would love a brother or a sister, but he would also be totally comfortable as and only child!

Jagger would thrive in a calm, patient environment. While he’s a sweet boy with lots of love to give, he’s a little cautious at first, so he needs a home where his new family can help him blossom. Sudden movements can cause Jagger to spook, so he’ll need time to adjust to new people and situations. When meeting new friends, Jagger prefers not to have hands above his head, and it’s best to approach him gently and slowly, especially under his chin, until he feels comfortable. Jagger would do well with older, gentle children or in a home with a single adopter or a couple. With some patience and understanding Jagger will shape up to be exactly the dog you want.

Jagger may be a little shy at first, but once he warms up, he’s a loving and playful companion. He enjoys running in circles and might even walk in circles while on a leash! A fenced-in yard is needed as Jagger loves to run and play. He’s a curious and happy guy who loves to be with people, whether it's going for walks, hiking in the mountains, or just hanging out at the coffee shop. As long as he’s with you, Jagger will be content.

Jagger will benefit from leash training, as he tends to pull some on the lead.  Also, basic queues training should be in his and his adopter’s future. Time spent training him will help strengthen your bond and build his confidence.

This boy loves to play, especially with people. Jagger would love to accompany his adopter anywhere they go; on walks, hikes in the mountains, trips to the beach, hanging out at the coffee shop, as long as he’s with you Jagger will be happy.

Jagger is a sweet, happy boy who’s eager to share his joy and affection with his new family. He’ll reward you with doggie smiles, tail wags, and unconditional love as your new best friend. If you’re looking for a loyal companion who will be by your side through thick and thin, Jagger would be the perfect fit for you!

What is my personality like? Jagger has a loving heart but he’s wary of everything when first meeting, be it a dog or people.  He is worth you spending the time to earn his trust.  Any good relationship has to be built.

How do I act when I first meet new people? Jagger is a bit wary on first meeting and takes a few minutes to warm to new people. Once he’s comfortable he’ll happily enjoy all the love and attention you care to shower on him.

Other tips and tidbits: Jagger was born on 12/6/2019.

House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule if a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained.  A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule.

Please note - we do not ship dogs.  If you are interested in adopting, please take a look at the distance between the foster home location and your location and make sure you are willing to make that trip.  Most of our dogs are at our farm in Pacolet, South Carolina.

To apply, please visit our webpage at www.carolinapoodlerescue.org and visit the tab on the left that directions you to the online application.

Please note that when screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home.   You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, color, age, etc.  Others here may be a better fit for you.  It is very difficult to get to know a living animal from a picture and a short description.  Since we are constantly getting in new dogs, this may be a  dog not in our listings yet.  We want you to be very happy with your new companion and will make suggestions based on what you tell us about you.

Thank you for considering CPR.
