My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Maggie Moo is excited to meet you! Maggie is a loving and happy girl who will greet new friends with a super cute wiggle dance! She would be a great addition to a quiet home, without any children or other dogs. Maggie has been showing some signs of resource guarding with her food and some toys, but she is very food motivated and is responding well to training. Due to this, we recommend that Maggie go to a home with an experienced dog owner who can continue working with her to reduce her resource guarding. Maggie's ideal home is in a quiet neighbourhood without many other dogs nearby, and she loves to lounge on the couch and watch movies with her friends. She is also game or a hike or two, just so long as it isn't raining! If you would like to learn more about Miss Maggie Moo, or have a meet-and-greet, come visit the Vancouver SPCA today!

Please come into the shelter during visiting hours if you would like to meet me. You can also submit an application online if I am in foster or you would like to save some time when you come visit. While we do welcome online applications, in person meets have top priority.

More about this shelter

Our Mission:

The BC SPCA is a non-profit organization dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for domestic, farm and wild animals in British Columbia. Through its 36 branches located around BC and its provincial office in Vancouver, the BC SPCA provides a wide range of services for more than 53,000 homeless, abused, and abandoned animals around the province. The BC SPCA was created under the auspices of the provincial Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, and is the only animal welfare organization in BC which has the authority to enforce laws relating to animal cruelty and to prepare cases for Crown Counsel for the prosecution of individuals who inflict suffering on animals.

Our Charter:

The BC SPCA Charter is the foundation that guides the work we do:

Whereas:

The world is inhabited by many species sharing a common ecosystem of air, earth, and water. We recognize and value our interconnectedness with all animals.

Therefore:

The BC Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for the animals of the world we share.

We pledge our energies to inspire and mobilize society to create a world in which all animals, who depend on humans for their well-being, experience, as a minimum, five essential freedoms:

1. Freedom from hunger and thirst

2. Freedom from pain, injury, and disease

3. Freedom from distress

4. Freedom from discomfort

5. Freedom to express behaviours that promote well-being.
