My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Thanos, an adult dog with a heart as big as his personality. This 18-pound, energetic fellow is always up for a game of fetch, and his playful nature is infectious. He also likes running and toys. He`s friendly with everyone he meets after getting over his initial nervousness. His intelligence shines through in his quick learning, and he`s already leash and house trained. He knows the sit, fetch, shake, and paw commands. Despite his energetic nature, Thanos is also gentle and easygoing, making him a joy to have around the house. He`s a bit needy, always wanting to be by your side, but in return, he`s incredibly protective, ready to keep you safe. His unique likes include potatoes, carrots, bottled water, and eggs, making snack time a breeze. He also enjoys music. Thanos is cautious, tolerant, and dominant with other dogs, so if you have a dog it would be beneficial for them to meet. He can get a bit mouthy and jumpy around children and will need to live in an adult-only home for now because of his fearful behavior since arriving at the shelter. He was only given up because of landlord issues. Thanos is more than just a pet; he`s a friend, a confidant, and a source of endless joy. With his personality and smart mind, Thanos is ready to become a cherished part of your family. Adopt Thanos and experience the unconditional love and companionship only a pet like him can offer. More about this shelter

Citizens For Animal Protection, founded in 1972, is committed to sheltering, rescuing, and placing homeless animals in loving homes; advocating respect and compassion for all animal life; providing humane education to prevent animal cruelty; and raising awareness in the community of the needs of animals.

CAP is proud to announce that through life-saving adoption and transfer programs and a lot of hard work, we have maintained a placement rate of over 93% for all homeless pets surrendered to our shelter in 2021. In 2021, CAP provided care for 10,260 animals; this includes animals surrendered by the public and transferred in from animal control agencies and rescue groups, animals already in the shelter and foster care program, feral cats trapped/neutered/returned and animals receiving vaccinations and other treatments in our low-cost vaccination clinic, The Cornelius Clinic.
