My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Ducky! Ducky and her cute heart shaped nose came to Trash Cat Rescue when her elderly owner was forced to surrender her. Ducky has proven to be resilient in the big changes she has faced. She might be a little older, but she still has lots of love to give.

Ducky is a sweet, easygoing lady who would prefer to be the only cat or in a home with other calm cats who would give her space. Ducky does show interest in the other cats in her foster home, but she does not enjoy crazy kitten behavior.

It would be best for Ducky to start in a single room to gain the trust of her new family. She has been through a lot of changes recently and needs time to acclimate to her new environment. Ducky can be shy, so slow movements to start out are best. Once you gain her trust, Ducky enjoys pets and scritches on her own terms. And you’ll know when that is because she starts rubbing on everything, flipping her head upside down, and chirping at you.

Ducky is about 6.5 years old. She is spayed, dewormed, flea treated, microchipped, vaccinated, and has tested negative for FIV/FeLV. Ducky has been through a lot and deserves a second chance. If you’re looking for a calm, sweet gal with the cutest heart shaped nose, apply for Ducky today!

Their adoption process

1.

Submit Application

Typically we talk a little with potential adopters to find a cat who is a good fit before sharing the application.

2.

Approve Application

We check over the application including checking vet references and doing landlord checks.

3.

Interview

We spend more time chatting with the adopters to specifically go over any questions from the application and details about the specific cat.

4.

Meet the Pet

Potential adopters have a meet and greet with the cat or kitten in the foster home.

5.

Sign Adoption Contract

At the meet and greet, if all goes well, the adoption contract can be signed, the fee can be paid, and the pet can go home!

6.

Pay Fee

7.

Take the Pet Home

Additional adoption info

We try to do our best to make sure we find good fitting, responsible homes, without wasting a lot of our time. Our app has a lot of screening questions which help eliminate potential adopters who might not be serious (they usually just don't return the app), or not a good fit, which is why the in depth interview happens once the app is returned.

More about this rescue

We are a small but dedicated 501c3 nonprofit cat rescue specializing in making one person's garbage kitten another person's forever cat.

Our mission is to reduce feline suffering and overpopulation using a combination of TNR and adoptions. We foster and socialize whenever we have the resources to do so, including behavioral cats and kittens who might otherwise just be candidates for TNR.
