My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Gus. Gus is a handsome, affectionate male tabby cat who came to TCR after he approached one of our fosters on their porch and did not have a microchip. He wasn’t neutered and he was covered in fleas and ticks, but was very friendly.

Since then, Gus has been a great indoor kitty at his foster home. He loves attention and will beg for it with meows and playful swats. Gus will sit in your lap as long as you let him and he loves pets and scratches. He will be the perfect best friend for someone. Gus loves toys especially ones he can bat around with his paws - or wand toys! He loves to scratch things as well, so scratching posts will be necessary in his new home.

Gus can get overstimulated after a while from too many pets or not enough pets, so he will need adopters who can read his body language and learn his tendencies. He is a very independent cat and can be a little sensitive. Gus has met other cats and kittens in his foster home and does not get along with them. He will do best as a single cat. Gus has never met a dog, but may not do well with them given his defensive nature and his desire to be a single cat.

Gus is estimated to be about a year old. He has been neutered, dewormed, flea treated, microchipped, vaccinated, and has tested negative for FIV/FeLV. Apply for this handsome lap cat today!

Their adoption process

1.

Submit Application

Typically we talk a little with potential adopters to find a cat who is a good fit before sharing the application.

2.

Approve Application

We check over the application including checking vet references and doing landlord checks.

3.

Interview

We spend more time chatting with the adopters to specifically go over any questions from the application and details about the specific cat.

4.

Meet the Pet

Potential adopters have a meet and greet with the cat or kitten in the foster home.

5.

Sign Adoption Contract

At the meet and greet, if all goes well, the adoption contract can be signed, the fee can be paid, and the pet can go home!

6.

Pay Fee

7.

Take the Pet Home

Additional adoption info

We try to do our best to make sure we find good fitting, responsible homes, without wasting a lot of our time. Our app has a lot of screening questions which help eliminate potential adopters who might not be serious (they usually just don't return the app), or not a good fit, which is why the in depth interview happens once the app is returned.

More about this rescue

We are a small but dedicated 501c3 nonprofit cat rescue specializing in making one person's garbage kitten another person's forever cat.

Our mission is to reduce feline suffering and overpopulation using a combination of TNR and adoptions. We foster and socialize whenever we have the resources to do so, including behavioral cats and kittens who might otherwise just be candidates for TNR.
