FOSTER ONLY! CROSSVILLE, TENNESSEE. So...our Bulldog, Barbara, since coming to rescue in August, has been a mess of medical problems. Two days before Christmas we learned that our efforts have been in vain. She's just not ever gonna get better. She was,of course, heart worm positive. Her chest has been full of fluid & the hope was that once those were treated, that fluid would cease to accumulate, thus, improving her breathing & long-term quality of life. Her repeat chest X-ray was worse than the prior four. Killing her heart worms did not help, but it was still absolutely needed & somehow, l'm sure she's healthier for it. The Doc suspects pulmonary hypertension. We got an estimate for an EKG & ECHO, but it's not needed. It would be for information purposes only & would not change the outcome. Barbara is a hospice pup now & we will provide every comfort measure we can. That being said, there is one, perhaps the most important, comfort I can not give her at the rescue. Barbara loves her kennel but I don't want her to die in it. It's a big ask because Barbara, in spite of her poor health, is still a badass Bulldog & she does not suffer fools easily. Especially the furry, four-legged kind. Who knows? Let's put it out there & see what happens. #foccasrescue would continue to cover any cost for her care & support her foster in every way needed.
