My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Cinnamon von Carlow is a beautiful, 2-year-old German Shepherd. Loving, loyal and intelligent, she embodies all the best qualities of the German Shepherd breed. With a heart as golden as her sleek auburn coat, Cinnamon thrives on belly rubs and spending quality time with her favorite people. Her gentle, endearing eyes and easy-going demeanor allow her to make friends with just about anyone. Cinnamon is a pro on the leash, walking faithfully by your side in a perfect heel and eagerly soaking up head rubs along the way. With brains to match her beauty, she is a fast learner who already knows her sit and down commands and is always excited to learn more, especially when treats are involved. She is social and well-mannered during playgroups, graciously greeting other dogs and making new pals. She's even passed her initial cat testing. If you’re looking for a dedicated companion and an endless supply of unconditional love, Cinnamon can’t wait to call herself your best friend for life.

Rescued from the Inland Valley animal shelter.

Based on our experience, Westside's current thinking is to usually match first-time shepherd owners with a mix versus a purebred shepherd. Mixes are "softer" and somewhat more malleable. Exceptions can be made, however, for first-time adopters who show the confidence and leadership tendencies that purebreds will respect and respond to. Counselors have to use good judgment in assessing the attributes of the adopter, as well as of the dog. If you have doubts, get a second opinion from Robin or another experienced counselor.
