My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Sweet Lydia is looking for a calm family to love her! She has a history of coming in and out of the shelter environment for the past 4 years. In 2019, Lydia was surrendered to the shelter when she was just 2 years old because she kept escaping from the backyard, yet she was kept outdoors 24/7. She was a cutie, so of course was adopted just a couple of days later. This adoption lasted for a few years! She stayed with this family until a few months ago when they surrendered her because of needing to concentrate on caring for an elderly family member. She again was adopted quickly. She was returned for the third time in November for "being aggressive towards the family, including their small child". Mind you, Lydia has lived her entire life with children and other dogs. Unfortunately, we don't know the circumstances behind what happened in her third and most recent home. She is very afraid and confused.

Lydia has been tossed around time after time. Now that she is under our rescue, we will strive to do right by Lydia and find her a home where she can relax, settle in, and spend the remainder of her life being loved and cherished. Lydia is now 6 years old and weighs 20lbs. She is spayed, vaccinated, microchipped, and heartworm negative.

Lydia is located in a foster home. We are happy to coordinate a meet & greet for pre-approved adopters. To get started, please submit an adoption application at https://bit.ly/USAHOTNADOPT2024

Adoption process:
Potential adopters complete our online application. From there, we contact them to continue the screening process including checking references, vet checks, and a personal phone interview. Upon completion, potential adopters are pre-approved.

From there, potential adopters are put in touch with the foster parent(s) of the dog they are interested in adopting. If a specific dog is not in mind, admins will make suggestions based on who we feel will be good candidates for their home. We take the foster's opinions into high consideration when determining ideal fit for an adoption.

Once the dog is determined to be a good fit for the adoptive home, the adopter is given advisement on decompression, training, safety gear, and future preventative vetting. The adoption contract is signed and adoption fee paid to finalize the adoption.
