My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Jay, a senior canine citizen with a youthful heart. His spirit is as bright as a pup`s, and his happiness is infectious. Jay`s curiosity makes every day an adventure. He loves to explore, his spry and peppy walking style leading him to new discoveries. He weighs 15 pounds, is generally low energy, and is house and leash trained. He`s brave, confidently stepping into the unknown with a wagging tail. Sadly his owner died and it`s the only human he`s ever lived with. His lived with his sister until recently but we haven`t seen him interact with other dogs. We don`t know if he has any experience with children. Jay`s friendly demeanor makes him easy to handle and a joy to be around. He`s cuddly, too, always ready for a cozy snuggle. Jay`s frolics are sure to brighten up your day, his sprightly antics a testament to his zest for life. He communicates his thoughts with barks, a language that`s uniquely his. However, Jay is a little wary of strangers, but don`t let that discourage you. With time, patience, and love, he`ll let his guard down and let you into his world. Jay`s age has only added to his charm, his wisdom making him a reliable companion. Adopting Jay means bringing home a bundle of joy, a friend who will fill your life with love, laughter, and lots of cuddles. (tw 12/27/2024)

More about this shelter

Citizens For Animal Protection, founded in 1972, is committed to sheltering, rescuing, and placing homeless animals in loving homes; advocating respect and compassion for all animal life; providing humane education to prevent animal cruelty; and raising awareness in the community of the needs of animals.

CAP is proud to announce that through life-saving adoption and transfer programs and a lot of hard work, we have maintained a placement rate of over 93% for all homeless pets surrendered to our shelter in 2021. In 2021, CAP provided care for 10,260 animals; this includes animals surrendered by the public and transferred in from animal control agencies and rescue groups, animals already in the shelter and foster care program, feral cats trapped/neutered/returned and animals receiving vaccinations and other treatments in our low-cost vaccination clinic, The Cornelius Clinic.
