Meet Dobie! This shy, incredibly sweet boy came to the shelter at a whopping 24 pounds, which is about 50% more than his healthy weight! Dobie is thicccc. He`s currently on a supervised diet to help him lose that `holiday weight` so that he can live a long, happy, healthy life. Dogs that are extremely overweight like Dobie have a higher risk of developing heart disease, diabetes, high blood pressure, arthritis, and certain types of cancer - all of which lead to a shortened lifespan. Chubby dogs may be cute, but their associated health issues are not, so we want to make sure Dobie has a long life ahead of him with his forever family!
Dobie is skittish when meeting new people and being introduced to new environments, but he warms up extremely quickly and he`s so incredibly affectionate and cuddly once he feels safe! This guy is an absolute gentleman! He`s housebroken and already knows `sit` (basically, he came to us pre-loaded with the `Good Boy` package)! Dobie is also already neutered, so as soon as he`s had his heartworm test and vaccinations, he`ll be ready to go to his new home. Dobie gets along great with other dogs and he loves people. He has not been tested with kids or cats, but as long as they give him space and time to settle in, we don`t feel he would have any issues with them (though toddlers may be a bit much for him). Dobie has not shown any aggression towards people or animals - he`s just a shy guy who needs people to be a little patient while showing him that he is safe and loved. He`s gaining confidence in SPADES in his foster home so we know this cool dude`s future is very bright!!

More about this rescue
We are a small but determined group of animal lovers in the Wichita area. We rescue dogs from the local shelters and accept dogs that owners relinquish for adoption. We do our best to ensure that all adopters are willing and able to provide a safe and healthy home for the life of the dogs they adopt. We do this because it needs to be done.
