Pumpkin Pie, Pumpkin Spice, Sweet Pumpkin… all loving nicknames for the very best dog in rescue. Pumpkin is adored by our staff and volunteers alike. “The easiest dog I’ve ever fostered” says one of our veteran fosters, “a perfect work-from-home companion” says one of our directors. Pumpkin is dog-friendly, and kid-friendly and would make a perfect work from home companion, or companion for a retired person or couple!
Pumpkin is estimated to be around two years old. She is a perfectly medium sized dog, a “mini-lab” if you will. She weighs in at a rotund 50 pounds, she is petite but round, and could stand to lose a few pounds. She is very soft, with a Labrador type coat. We think she may be a Lab, Black Mouth Cur mix, but she is a rescue, so these are just our best guesses!

Pumpkin is beloved by our staff, and spent a while living in one of our directors’ offices. She makes a perfect little working buddy! Patient, mellow and affectionate. In her crate, she wouldn’t whine or bark. She hasn’t had indoor accidents here at the rescue or in her foster home, so we’re confident in calling her potty-trained. She is a low energy girl, once she’s had her snuggles, hugs and kisses from you she will lay at your feet and let you work all day long. Our director reports, “She has not been destructive while hanging out free roaming in my office for several hours at a time alone. I’ve been able to trust her free roaming for many days.”
Pumpkin has a deep love for humanity. She makes friends with everyone she meets. When we brought pumpkin to the vet, she greeted everyone with a wagging tail and got onto the scale for her weight very easily. She is not fearful, defensive or nervous with new people. She’s such a sweetheart, and a friend to all. Her love for people extends to kids too! In her foster home, Pumpkin would routinely meet children, and she did really well with them! She enjoys the extra attention and love that they bring, and she’s so mellow that she won’t hurt them with pushy paws or hard jumps.
With other dogs, Pumpkin is also very loving! She’s dog-friendly, super sweet, but not overly playful with other dogs here at the rescue. That may change once she’s in a forever home, but for now, we believe she would do best in a home with a medium energy dog, or a low energy dog like herself.
Another brag on Pumpkin- walking her is a breeze! She’s so easy on leash, and exceptionally trusting of her handler. We’ve been able to walk her up and down agility obstacles, and all around the neighborhood. When you leash her up her whole body wiggles because she’s so excited to go outside. She’s also an easy car-rider, loading and unloading on her own. Taking her out and about, considering her leash skills, car-riding skills, and social skills, will be easy and enjoyable for both of you!
Life with Pumpkin is sweet, in all meanings of the phrase- she’s easy-going, mellow and relaxed. A true couch-potato type. She’s affectionate, snuggly and sweet. She loves to lean into you and give you hugs and kisses. She kind of demands your attention sometimes by lifting up your arm or your hand with her snout to get you to pet her. It’s the sweetest thing.
We believe Pumpkin would make an excellent companion dog for a retired couple because she is so easy- low maintenance, low energy, and does not need a lot of exercise, and she is just a medium sized girl, not large. She’s proven herself as a wonderful work from home companion, and could do well in that lifestyle. She’s shown us her social skills with children, and we know she could make a great family dog! Pumpkin is ready for her forever home, and she’s not too picky about what it looks like. This sweet girl is just ready to fall in love with you! She could live with other dogs, but we don’t recommend kitties for Pumpkin. We are willing to test Pumpkin with anything you need us to in order to ensure she’s the perfect match for you! We can make most anything happen! Just let us know.

https://g.co/kgs/UQ5Pyai We care deeply about making the perfect match between dog and family for long term success.
Our rescue has a 2 acre property in Texas where we assess every animal with trainers on staff, we modify behavior as needed, and create individualized behavior plans to help prepare dogs for their future families including crate training, potty training, leash walking, etc. Our fosters are able to attend group trainings and socialization play groups to keep dogs adoption-ready. Our on-site trainers support the positive growth of our dogs and we enjoy seeing their progress!
Our commitment to comprehensive medical care sets us apart. We've received glowing feedback from veterinarians who commend our dedication to ensuring the health and well-being of every animal in our care with treatments that often go above and beyond.
Our adoption fees reflect the extensive care and resources that go into each animal we save. The adoption fee is a donation to the mission and goes far beyond getting a fully vetted pet.
The rescue’s hard costs alone for a healthy dog to go through our program typically range between $412 to $859, which includes boarding, food, medications, vaccines, and spay/neuter. For heartworm-positive dogs, hard costs are upwards of $1,120. Additionally, dogs requiring extended boarding, extra training, or extra medical care—such as dental work, vision care, or orthopedic care—can lead to expenses running into the thousands. Also, included in the fee are costs to cover transport up to the Pacific Northwest or East Coast. While adoption fees help cover part of these expenses, we want to emphasize that Three Little Pitties Rescue is not government funded.
It doesn’t stop there! Our adopters also receive these SPECIAL PERKS:

Did you know that the Greater Houston area faces some of the highest stray and overpopulation rates in the nation? We are a non profit charity. Our goal is simple— to reduce the homeless pet population through community outreach, free spay and neuter services, and by rescuing animals from the streets or overcrowded shelters where euthanasia due to lack of space is often the only option. The dog you've found online is not only lucky to be in our program, but also incredibly fortunate to have caught your eye. Thank you for considering adoption and for joining us in our mission!
Follow our rescue journey and connect with us on our website and social media platforms. Together, we can make a difference, one adoption at a time.
