My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Beans!

He is a sweet little guy who has had a rough go after being hit by a vehicle and needing to be surrendered for vet care. His leg had nerve damage and after a couple of weeks to see if it would get better, we opted to amputate.

This little fighter is doing very well in his foster home and has been introduced to the resident cat and dog in the home. Beans is still awaiting a dental to remove an injured tooth from the accident, this is scheduled for early January.

If interested in Beans, please submit an application for us to review. Then once approved we can arrange a meet n greet with the foster. Beans is not at the shelter and only available to view by appointment.

The BC SPCA is a non-profit organization dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for domestic, farm and wild animals in British Columbia. Through its locations and operations across the province the BC SPCA provides emergency medical care and sheltering for more than 37,000 animals each year. The society also conducts more than 4,600 cruelty investigations and provides a wide range of advocacy and education programs for domestic, farm and wild animals through its Provincial Office.

Our mission, vision and charter is at the heart of all we do to rescue, protect and care for animals. It is also the driving force behind our animal welfare and education programs.

    Our Charter:

The BC SPCA Charter is the foundation that guides the work we do:

    Whereas:

The world is inhabited by many species sharing a common ecosystem of air, earth, and water. We recognize and value our interconnectedness with all animals.

    Therefore:

The BC Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for the animals of the world we share.

We pledge our energies to inspire and mobilize society to create a world in which all animals, who depend on humans for their well-being, experience, as a minimum, five essential freedoms:

    1. Freedom from hunger and thirst

    2. Freedom from pain, injury, and disease

    3. Freedom from distress

    4. Freedom from discomfort

    5. Freedom to express behaviours that promote well-being.
