Check out our sister brand, Kinship, for vet chat, a nutrition calculator, basic obedience training, and (much) more. So you're never flying solo in this pet parenting thing.
Peter and Dustin are an adorable brother duo that love to spend their days getting into kitten adventures. Petey (eyepatch) is the bigger, more confident sibling who is the first to lead this playful pair into mischief. Dustin, smaller and more reserved, tends to hang back and watch how things play out before jumping headfirst into the fray. Due to age and temperament, these kittens will need to be adopted as a pair or into a home with another playful, young cat.
The adoption fee for this kitten is $150, $275/pair.
If you are viewing on Petfinder and cannot see photos or would like to apply for this kitten, please visit our website www.frecklesfoundation.org
***Please note that the first step in the process is to complete our nonbinding application which does not commit you in any way, but allows us to help you to find a great match. Our application review process also includes a veterinary reference check. Vetting of current and past pets is very important to us, thus we will be speaking with the vet(s) listed on your application to ensure that your current and previous pet(s) are kept up to date on vaccines (including rabies), spayed or neutered, maintained on appropriate monthly preventatives (if applicable) and examined annually by your vet.***
Cats adopted through Freckles Foundation & Animal Rescue must be indoor only and may not be declawed unless already declawed at the time of rescue.

Additional adoption info
Our adoption coordinators have conversations each applicant to ensure a good match for the pet and person/family, perform vet checks if there are current pets. Adopters must come to either the foster home or an event to meet the pet. If the dog/cat is too young to be altered, a deposit is taken and our spay/neuter coordinator follows up ensuring the procedure is done. Below is our link to our dog application. We also have a cat application but there is only space for 1 link.

More about this rescue
A kitten named Freckles, who was diagnosed with Feline Infectious Peritonitis (FIP), and a desire to help more at-risk cats and dogs find forever homes, were the catalyst that ignited Athena Reizakis to start Freckles Foundation & Animal Rescue. While our main mission is to place animals in need in loving homes, we also place a special emphasis on the “underdog.” We will not let age or a medical diagnosis, such as FIP or heartworm, be a barrier in giving that animal the chance at the life they so deserve.
Freckles Foundation & Animal Rescue, founded in December of 2023, is a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. We are a foster-based rescue with a volunteer network spanning across Maryland, DC, and Virginia. We are committed to creating awareness within the communities we serve and working towards the best interest of the animals in our care. It is not just about finding homes for pets in need but finding a home that is right for them.
Freckles Foundation works with shelters, other rescue groups, community organizations, and individuals to identify cats and dogs in need of rescue. Once in our care we provide these animals with necessary veterinary care and a loving, nurturing foster home until they are adopted. Cats and dogs receive vaccinations, preventatives, and spay/neuter (if age appropriate) prior to adoption. Our rescues are cared for in our network of volunteer foster homes and provided with food, shelter, socialization, training, and other necessary care while awaiting adoption.
We are funded solely by donations and adoption fees. We are 100% volunteer-based currently.
