Howdy folks, I’m a handsome little male Shih Tzu named Hoover. I’m about 3 years old, 17 lbs and I was dropped off at the San Antonio “kill” shelter when my owner could no longer care for me. Thankfully, 4 Little Paws Rescue quickly picked me up so I wouldn't be euthanized but I was dirty, matted, and desperate for a dental, so I was feeling pretty cranky when I first met my foster mom. Fast forward a month and I’ve been groomed, ears cleaned, dental cleaning done, and some time to chill out and make friends with my foster mom and the other dogs and cats living with me. I’m like a new man, happy and playful, in love with some doggy toys, but I don't care for being picked up and I’m scared of cats. I should tell you that I don't answer to the name Hoover. I used to be named Honey and I don't answer to that either, but when my foster mom says “Come here baby” I run right over! I am energetic and playful, wonderful on a leash while we go for a walk, and I adore playing fetch. Tell me to go get my ball and I will so you can throw it for me. I only bark to alert you, already housebroken and know how to use a doggy door. I get along with other dogs but I’m not playful with them. I’m a people dog, loyal and loving, and ready to find a family of my own. I hear the Eastern Seaboard is the place to be, so inquire about me today and bring me home!
* 4 Little Paws is based in CT. We adopt in many different states along the East Coast. Transport costs are included in the adoption fee. If you are located outside the states we typically adopt to, we have options to get the dog of your dreams to your location.

Please DO NOT apply unless the entire family / household is on board with adopting one of our dogs. We must receive an application for you to move forward in the process. Thoughtful direct emails are welcome and will be answered. However, an application is still a necessary step. We want to make sure we find our dogs a perfect fit with a family so both the dog and the family are happy. We keep our dogs with fosters once we get them out of shelters for a little bit to learn and understand their personalities. Our relationship with families doesn't stop at adoption! We are always available for any follow up questions and are happy to be a resource as you and your new pet settle into a routine.
