My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet River - A True Survivor Ready for His Forever Home!

River's story is one of incredible resilience and heart. This 8-month-old puppy was found in a sewage lagoon, where he may have spent up to 24 hours treading water. Despite battling hypothermia and requiring emergency care, River has made an amazing recovery and is ready to find his perfect family.

River is a loving and affectionate boy who lives for belly rubs, treats, and cuddle time. He's selective about his doggy friends, preferring calm and friendly companions, as he doesn't appreciate aggressive behaviour.

If you're looking for a sweet, loyal pup with an unbreakable spirit, River is ready to be your best friend. Come meet him and let him melt your heart!

Our Charter:

The BC SPCA Charter is the foundation that guides the work we do:

Whereas:

The world is inhabited by many species sharing a common ecosystem of air, earth, and water. We recognize and value our interconnectedness with all animals.

Therefore:

The BC Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for the animals of the world we share.

We pledge our energies to inspire and mobilize society to create a world in which all animals, who depend on humans for their well-being, experience, as a minimum, five essential freedoms:

1. Freedom from hunger and thirst

2. Freedom from pain, injury, and disease

3. Freedom from distress

4. Freedom from discomfort

5. Freedom to express behaviours that promote well-being.
