My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

After being dumped outside the shelter, Bruno wasn’t too trusting of people and was a little nervous. However since he has been in Foster care his confidence is growing and his true colors are showing! Now, after just a couple of treats Bruno happily accepts attention from new friends and as each minute passes you can see him fall more and more in love with whoever gives him attention.

Bruno is a lower energy dog and after a walk or a nice game of fetch he would love to spend his days lounging around the house with you. He can and should get some exercise but he doesn’t need too much to be happy. After that he enjoys hanging out or chewing on a toy while you binge watch your favorite show!

A home with no kids and no other pets would probably be ideal because his foster does believe he would really enjoy a home that is a relatively calm and quiet environment. He does great with the dogs he meets with his foster (Rachel Koehler Dog Training) however he is only around fully trained dogs and he doesn’t seem to respond well to dogs who have less training and who bark. That being said he is always welcome back for visits with RKDT so he can have playtime with other doggies in a safe and controlled environment! (Rachel Koehler Dog Training is offering 50% OFF boarding for a full year after he is adopted!)

Finally, Bruno is fully trained. He knows 10 obedience commands as well as basic manners such as no pulling on leash, jumping or barking. He is crate trained and potty trained. Whoever adopts Bruno will get private lessons with his Foster/Trainer Rachel Koehler to learn all of his training and will be given guidance and support with his training when they take him home. The training he has received isn’t just obedience commands, it is lifestyle training to set him up for success to be his best self in his new home!

More about this rescue

Ring Dog Rescue is a 501c3 pit bull rescue organization based out of Richmond, Virginia. Our focus is on the rescue, rehabilitation and long term placement of pit bull-type dogs in our region, as well as on the continued and ongoing education of the general public on the true character of these dogs and their role in altering the current societal perception. In 2009, Ring Dog Rescue placed 87 dogs in loving, permanent homes across Virginia, North Carolina, Maryland, Washington D.C., New Jersey, Pennsylvania and South Carolina, representing a 26% increase in dogs adopted from 2008. Our dogs come from various sources, including local kill-shelters, as strays or even as removals from neglectful situations. Our dogs are provided full and complete medical care, including spay and neuter, vaccines, microchips and remediation of any ailments the dog may suffer, placed in foster homes, taught to be a family dog and then placed in an adoptive home, after a thorough screening process.
