My personality

My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Yoyo is a three year old dachshund mix with a big personality. He is a sensitive and particular dog who will need a home understanding of his quirks. Yoyo enjoys walks, especially if he can use his nose to investigate. He's a dog with a sense of humor, and know humans find it funny it when he chases leaves and spins in circles after his own tail. And what a gorgeous tail it is! Yoyo does have rules. He was previously in a home with small children who were not very kind to him, so therefore he will not be placed in a home with children or in a home where children visit. He does not get along with other dogs and is not suitable to live with cats.
We are looking for an adult only home with Dachshund experience. Yoyo will need people who will read his body language and will recognize when he is uncomfortable. A patient, stable home will allow him to thrive, Yoyo is a dog that has tons of potential, he's just in need of a home that will allow him to grow into an excellent dog!

For more information on Yoyo, call AWS at 860-354-1350 email animalwelfare.socty@snet.net or visit our website aws-shelter.org for a pre adopt application. Adoption fees for Dogs (8yrs and up) is $150 Adult Dogs is $400 and Puppies under a year is $500

More about this shelter

Animal Welfare Society, Inc. is an independent, non-profit, non-destroy organization founded in 1965.

Our Mission is to aid and find loving, permanent homes for abandoned, stray, and abused cats and dogs in New Milford, Bridgewater, Brookfield, Roxbury, and Washington, Connecticut.

Each year hundreds of dogs and cats find refuge at our shelter located at 8 Dodd Road in New Milford, Connecticut. Abandoned dogs are rescued from the Regional Canine Facility in New Milford after the mandatory 7-day waiting period. AWS also makes periodic trips to New York City's overpopulated dog pounds and brings their animals to our shelter for placement. Our cats are found abandoned in the areas we serve.

From the moment these animals enter the shelter, they are no longer unwanted. Each is a special pet waiting for a caring, responsible, permanent home.
