My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

This is Jack, a 6-year-old cat with a heart full of love and a bit of a tough past. Jack was surrendered when his family brought home a new puppy, and unfortunately, Jack didn't take well to the new addition. Jack prefers to be the only pet in the household, as he's happiest with all the attention focused on him.

Jack is a special boy who thrives in a calm, quiet environment, away from the chaos of young children or other pets. He's extremely food motivated, and with a little patience and understanding, he can be a loyal, affectionate companion. Jack will need a home where he can feel safe and secure, where he's the one and only focus, and where he can get plenty of love and attention.

While Jack may get overstimulated quickly, especially in environments that are too busy, in the right home, he will reward you with his sweet and gentle nature. He just needs someone who understands him and is ready to give him the calm, peaceful life he deserves.

💔 Please consider giving Jack the forever home he desperately needs. 💔

More about this shelter

The Associated Humane Societies rescues stray and homeless animals, both domestic and wildlife, providing quality care and sanctuary until loving homes can be found. As a community-based organization, we provide low-cost veterinary care and humane education to promote responsible pet guardianship throughout New Jersey.

For over a century we have offered a haven to abused and neglected animals. Founded in 1906, AHS is the largest animal sheltering system in New Jersey, operating three shelters located in Newark, Forked River, and Tinton Falls. Our Forked River facility also includes Popcorn Park. Established in 1977, Popcorn Park is a sanctuary for abandoned, injured, ill, exploited, abused or elderly wildlife, exotic and farm animals, and birds.

The Society is a not for profit, 501(c)3 organization and we take pride in our devotion to the thousands of animals that come through our doors looking for a better life.
