My personality

My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

GUNNER

Attributes
Good w/dogs
Good w/cats
Likes car rides
Potties on leash
Housetrained
Medium energy

Meet Gunner, a 2-year-old tri-color male beagle with an affectionate, outgoing personality and a medium energy level. He is a tripod after a car accident claimed his rear left leg in October 2024, but he hasn’t let this get in the way of his enthusiasm for life. He walks well on a leash and trots along quickly when he’s out and about – no dilly-dallying for Gunner! Gunner is keenly interested in his surroundings and enjoys watching the neighbors from his station on the couch.
Beagles are known for singing the song of their people, but Gunner is vocal only when his foster mom returns home from an outing. He announces her arrival with a beautiful bark and chortle. Speaking of outings, Gunner enjoys car rides, and while he would prefer to ride shotgun, he rides nicely in the back seat.
Gunner gets along quite well with the other dogs (male and female) in his foster home and ignores the cats. He has not been around children in his foster home. Gunner comes from a home environment and knows multiple commands: “sit,” “stay,” “come,” and “outside.” He also has excellent house manners – he doesn’t beg for food from the dinner table. He's been home alone for over six hours without having an accident. He enjoys snuggling on the couch with his foster mom and giving her lots of kisses. He doesn’t seem interested in the toys in the toy basket that his foster mom provides, but it could be that he would prefer his own toys – a shopping trip with his new family might be in order!
If you’re looking for a cheerful, friendly addition to your family, Gunner just might be the beagle you’ve
been looking for!
NOTE: Dog may be located in any of our six volunteer states (WI, IL, IN, OH, PA, MI).

More about this rescue

BREW Midwest is the midwest region of BREW Inc. (Beagle Rescue, Education and Welfare). We are a network of volunteers and foster homes across Western PA, OH, MI, IN and IL.

Our Mission:
*Rescue beagles in danger of euthanasia from shelters
*Help beagles that have been removed from neglectful or abusive situations
*Educate families about beagles and their special qualities
*Find kind, loving families for homeless or abandoned beagles.

BREW is dedicated to rescuing and re-homing beagles. The main focus is beagles in shelters that are faced with imminent extermination. BREW works with shelters and animal control facilities and adopt beagles to families throughout our region. In addition to our rescue efforts, BREW is dedicated to increasing public awareness of pet overpopulation and encouraging pet owners to spay and neuter their pets. Towards that end, no beagle over six months of age is adopted from BREW without being spayed or neutered. BREW also works to alert people about the disadvantages of purchasing pets from a "pet store."
