Hello, my name is Oakley, and I am an approximately 4-year-old male Golden Retriever from Korea. I weigh about 66 lbs and am on an incredible journey to find my forever family in America. My life hasn’t been easy. I was rescued from the unimaginable horrors of a Korean kill shelter, where I was moments away from being euthanized. Before that, I endured a life of neglect and fear. In Korea, millions of dogs like me are slaughtered every year for meat. Many endure abuse and harsh conditions with no hope of escape. I was one of the lucky ones—saved by compassionate activists who fought to give me a chance at life. When I was first rescued, I was terrified, unsure if I could trust humans again. But with time, care, and love, I discovered that not all people are bad. Now, my heart is full of hope. I can’t wait to start my new life in Seattle, where I dream of finding a family that will show me the kindness and love I’ve never fully known. Despite my past, I’m an incredibly sweet and gentle soul. I love people of all ages, including kind, gentle children, and I get along well with other dogs. I’m smart and eager to please, making me a wonderful companion for car rides, walks in the park, or quiet moments at home. I’m ready to leave my trauma behind and start a life filled with joy and unconditional love. I’ll do best in a home with a family who understands the patience and care it takes to help a rescue dog blossom. To help me settle in, we highly recommend working with our trusted pet rescue dog trainer, who specializes in helping dogs like me adapt to their new surroundings. My adoption fee of $2,595 helps cover the extensive care and preparation it takes to bring me to you, including: Spay/Neuter DA2PP, Rabies, and Bordetella vaccinations Deworming and Heartworm testing Microchip Boarding fees and health certificate Airline transport from Korea to Seattle For my safety, all adopted dogs require a GPS tracker or Apple AirTag, which you can bring or purchase from us. When you adopt me, you’re not just saving one dog—you’re making it possible for others like me to have a second chance at life. The adoption fee helps fund lifesaving rescues and medical care for dogs still waiting for their miracle. Ginger’s Pet Rescue is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization, so your adoption fee is tax-deductible. Please email admin@gingerspetrescue.org to request an adoption application or to learn more about me. Donations to help pay down vet bills at Greenwood Vet are always appreciated—they make rescues like mine possible. Thank you for opening your heart to a survivor like me. I’ve been through so much, but with your love, I know I can finally live the happy life I’ve always dreamed of.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

The first step to adopting a pet from Ginger’s Pet Rescue is completing our Adoption Application or submit via our Contact Form on our website. This application will allow us to know more about your family, what kind of pet will fit best and your home, and whether you will be a good match for one of our dogs. Please include the dog(s) you are interested in on the application. We review applications upon receipt and will reply as soon as possible, usually within 1-2 days.

Adoption fees are listed on each pet and depend on a number of the factors. Adoption fees are what allow us to continue our rescue, as our primary source of funding.

If for any reason the dog does not work out, we are willing to take the dog back and refund your adoption fee less a $100 rehoming fee.

More about this rescue

Ginger’s Pet Rescue is one of the largest non-profit pet rescue organizations in Washington state, and we specialize in saving Death Row Dogs. Our mission is to give homeless animals with no hope the life they deserve through rescue, foster and adoption. We rely on a large network of fosters in the Seattle area, who provide our dogs with love and care during transition from rescue to adoption. We do not have a physical shelter location; to meet the dogs in our rescue, contact us to connect with a foster or join us at an adoption event!

Ginger’s Pet Rescue is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization. We rely solely on the support from adoption fees and donations to help us provide for the ~100+ dogs in our rescue at any given time.

How We Rescue

We take in dogs from local families in need, in state and out of state shelters, and we also work with overseas rescue groups on occasion. We do not discriminate – we rescue dogs small and big, old and young, healthy and sick, purebred and Heinz 57! Our belief is that every dog deserves a forever home.
Our History

Ginger’s Pet Rescue was founded in 2006 by Ginger Luke after saving one Dachshund’s life turned into a life-long endeavor. The organization is dedicated to providing great care for our dogs and adoption efforts!
