My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Pinion, a 50 pound, adult female, fostered in Colorado Springs.

Pinion is a gentle soul with a heart of gold. This Brindle Beauty has a demeanor that is mellow, making her the perfect companion for quiet evenings. Her sweet nature shines through in her interactions, always eager to offer a friendly nuzzle or a cuddly embrace. Pinion's loyalty is unmatched, she is fiercely devoted to the humans who love her. Her gentle spirit makes her a comforting presence, the kind of friend who's always there when you need her. Pinion's charm lies not just in her loving nature, but also in her ability to make everyone around her feel special with her intense booty wiggles when she greets them.

Pinion needs a person who will be patient with her. Although she puts all of her faith in the person she is with, she takes time to warm up to her environment.
She may not seem like a girl who plays with toys at first, but be assured that she loves to play with her foster brother, she just needs time.

Pinion will do really well in a home that is generally calm. She cannot live with children under the age of 12. She would prefer a brother or sister that she can spend hours wrestling with or playing tug-of-war, but it is not a deal breaker if she is the only dog in the home. She would like to go to the dog park if there are no other dogs in her home.

Her favorite YouTube channel is Destination Adventure (yes, she does watch TV!) because Dustin films the most gorgeous places in Canada. She has a little adventurous side as well. Hikes are very exciting for Pinion. She does well on a leash, but needs some reminding to not pull when she gets too excited.

Pinion will be spayed soon, and after a little recovery, she will be available around 7-10 January. You are more than welcome to meet her before her surgery!

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

We are doggie and kitty match-makers. We do everything in our power to assure that our dogs or cats will thrive in your environment.

Please start by submitting an application to adopt on our website. We do our best to respond to all applications but do to the number of applications received, this may always not be possible.

If you, your family and your lifestyle look like a good fit for the personality and needs of the animal, there's a phone call to chat and answer any additional questions. From there we will arrange a no-obligation meet and greet, where the animal could then go home with you, provided it is a good fit for all involved! (All this can happen within a week's time!)

A contract is signed at time of adoption. If for ANY reason you are unable to keep your companion, we quite passionately INSIST the animal be returned to us and NOT dropped in a shelter. We would happily take any of our adoptions back if it proves NOT a good fit for your family. :-)

Adoption fees include spay/neuter, microchip, basic vaccinations, (including rabies if old enough), deworming, rescue and transport costs, other medical services as needed (which can include but not limited to skin scrape, fecal exam, x-ray, amputation and hospitalization). Felines additionally receive an felv/fiv test and checked for ringworm with the Woods lamp prior to transport.

Adoption fees may vary due to special health circumstances, but typically start with...adult dogs (1 year and older): $425; puppies: $475; adult cats (1 year and older): $175; kittens: $250.

Go meet their pets

We are a foster based rescue ~ we DO NOT have a physical shelter at the moment. All of our dogs and cats reside in foster homes all throughout the Front Range and the Western Slope of Colorado. We have adoption events regularly at Petsmart stores in Denver, CO. If we do not have an event scheduled, we can arrange a time for you to meet one of our animals available for adoption.

More about this rescue

We relocate dogs and cats from high-intake shelters, animal control facilities, and reservations in the Four Corners area to animal rescue partners and forever homes in Colorado. We provide transportation to foster homes and other partner organizations, offer medical care and low/no cost spay and neuter services, manage a network of foster homes for temporary shelter, and run adoption events so that these animals can find forever homes.

Since March of 2012, we have transported thousands of at-risk dogs and cats to safety, solely on generous donations from caring individuals like you who see how dire the need is in and around the Navajo reservation.
