My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Papa Bear - A Dog's Dog! Papa Bear is a true canine companion and, to flourish, in his forever home, he needs to be welcomed by another confident, friendly, and playful dog. This lovable and handsome boy is looking for his forever home where he can thrive with the right support. His ideal match will be with patient and understanding guardians who are willing to continue to guide him as he adapts to his new life. You'll be entertained by his playfulness and silly antics.

Working with Papa Bear has been a rewarding experience for all the staff and volunteers who have had the pleasure of spending time with him. He's a sweet soul, but he's a bit unsure about the world, so a calm and secure environment will be essential as he adjusts. His future family will need to provide a safe and secure backyard to help him settle in, as the outside world can sometimes overwhelm him.

Papa Bear is not fond of cats and can be a little nervous around young children, so he would do best in a home without either. Together, we can help this sweet boy find the loving home he deserves!
.

If you think you might be the perfect match for Papa Bear, or know someone who could be, please submit an online adoption application through the SPCA website. The more details you provide about your home and lifestyle, the better we can help match animals with their ideal families.

The BC SPCA is a non-profit organization dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for domestic, farm and wild animals in British Columbia. Through its locations and operations across the province the BC SPCA provides emergency medical care and sheltering for more than 37,000 animals each year. The society also conducts more than 4,600 cruelty investigations and provides a wide range of advocacy and education programs for domestic, farm and wild animals through its Provincial Office.

Our mission, vision and charter is at the heart of all we do to rescue, protect and care for animals. It is also the driving force behind our animal welfare and education programs.

    Our Charter:

The BC SPCA Charter is the foundation that guides the work we do:

    Whereas:

The world is inhabited by many species sharing a common ecosystem of air, earth, and water. We recognize and value our interconnectedness with all animals.

    Therefore:

The BC Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for the animals of the world we share.

We pledge our energies to inspire and mobilize society to create a world in which all animals, who depend on humans for their well-being, experience, as a minimum, five essential freedoms:

    1. Freedom from hunger and thirst

    2. Freedom from pain, injury, and disease

    3. Freedom from distress

    4. Freedom from discomfort

    5. Freedom to express behaviours that promote well-being.
