My story

Well hello, handsome!
This gorgeous guy was surrendered to one of our partner shelters. His owner stated they were moving out of the country and could only take one of their dogs. Not sure how Cooper drew the short straw but they decided not to keep them.
Let us just say... Their loss will be some VERY lucky family's gain! Cooper is spectacular!
He's a tad unsure what's happening to him, but he's starting to open up to us. He's sweet, affectionate, playful, vocal, GREAT on a leash for a Husky, a good eater, well mannered, has basic training, etc. etc. etc. The list goes on and on!
Cooper would make a great first time Husky but we do believe he'd prefer to be an only dog. He's fine meeting dogs outdoors on a leash but indoors he wants to be the center of your attention. For that reason we've flagged him as not being good with other dogs. Cooper has the best voice on the planet! A deep woo that will melt your heart. Let him steal your heart today!

Cooper is two years old and located in MD. We can transport as far north as NJ and as far south as GA for anyone looking to adopt outside the immediate area.

~~Husky Education And Rescue Team is a foster based rescue. Our dogs are in our foster homes all up and down the east coast. We do not have a facility in which you can visit. We find this a huge benefit because we learn our dogs and are able to educate our adopters on what it’s like to have them live in your home. Part of our process, once pre-approved, is to speak with the foster for the dog you’re interested in. If you’re still interested in adopting from our rescue the first step is to complete our adoption application online at www.huskyrescueteam.org/apply

Additional adoption info

Our application can be seen here: www.huskyrescueteam.org/apply

We screen all applicants by calling personal references, landlords, vet references, conducting a phone interview and doing a home inspection. We do allow for a two week trial period after the adoption contract is signed. We back our dogs for life.

We are a foster based rescue and do not have visiting hours.

More about this rescue

We are a 501(c) (3) nonprofit animal rescue organization. Our organization saves, rehabilitates, and rehomes Siberian Huskies (and other breeds of dogs) who are abandoned and are in kill shelters. We provide medical and behavioral services and rehome them to compatible families. We do this through volunteer efforts. Most of the dogs in need will come from the Southern States where the shelter kill rate is higher. We have a network of foster homes along the East Coast, while our adoption locations can be found in Maryland and New Jersey.
