My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

How this pet arrived:
This pet was brought in by a community member on December 1, 2024.

Why this pet is the one for you:
Meet Bodoque, a sweet and sensitive 1-year-old lab mix looking for a new home. Bodoque has come a long way since arriving, and while he is still a little shy, he is warming up with time and patience. He tends to be a bit hesitant at first, especially when it comes to new environments, sudden movements or loud noised. With gentle encouragement, some tasty treats and proper interductions he becomes more comfortable. One of his favorite things in the world are squeaky toys-he'll eagerly play with them once he feels safe and relaxed. Bodoque also enjoys chewing on his bone, and he's shown a growing love for affection, often asking for pets from trusted humans. While he's still a bit cautious when first going outside or encountering new spaces, once he's outside, he enjoys his walks and grows more confident with time. Bodoque's ideal home will be one with a patient family who understands that he needs time to adjust and build trust. If you're looking for a loving companion who will thrive in a calm and gentle environment, Bodoque could be the perfect fit for you!

More about this shelter

San Diego Humane Society, an open-admission shelter, is creating a more humane world by inspiring compassion and advancing the welfare of animals and people. Our lifesaving safety net has helped San Diego become the largest city in the U.S. to keep healthy and treatable shelter animals from being euthanized. We are a private, independent, nonprofit organization that is not affiliated with any other humane society or society for the prevention of cruelty to animals.

With campuses in El Cajon, Escondido, Oceanside, Ramona and San Diego, we provide animal services for 14 cities within San Diego County. We not only care for 50,000 animals in our communities but also share the expertise we have gained through our innovative programs with shelters nationwide so they can save more lives in their communities.

While our influence is expanding nationally, our top priority is meeting the needs of San Diego. We provide exceptional care for all animals through world-class veterinary medicine, shelter and most of all: love.
