ake a look at those big beautiful ears!! Little Leo is a one year old chihuahua/dachshund mix whose owner could no longer care for him. He is a shy boy when around other dogs and is uncomfortable with cats at the moment. He’ll do best in a calm environment with a family that knows the timid chihuahua breed. When Leo is comfortable, he loves attention and petting! He will paw at a trusted hand for the attention he craves! If there is a free lap available this guy will happily occupy it to get his dose of cuddles and love. He has the cutest whine when he’s feeling lonely or trying to tell you something. He’s playful and shows a little interest in toys, especially if they squeakers! Leo is food motivated when he feels secure. He is paper trained but will also do his business outside. Leo is up to date on vaccinations, heart worm negative, microchipped, and neutered. He is currently at our Atlas (Queens) location. If you would like to meet this adorable boy, please fill out the adoption application on our website using a laptop or desktop (no phone or tablet, please) at https://bobbiandthestrays.org/adoption-page-new/. Kindly keep in mind that our adoptions are local only (NYC area and Long Island).

We require all potential adopters to complete an adoption form. We will make arrangements to meet with you, inspect the home where the animal will live, and, once approved, you'll be able to take home your new family member. Fees will be discussed with potential adopters.
We also require that adopters keep us updated on the well being of their pets and, if for any reason they are no longer able to keep the animal, they MUST call us to return the animal to us. We will pick up if necessary.

More about this rescue
Bobbi and the Strays believe that animals deserve our love, compassion, and respect. Our purpose is to undertake rescue operations and to provide essential care for orphaned, stray, abused and special needs cats and dogs.
Through rehabilitation, socialization, and adoption, we endeavor to provide a humane service to all animals that come into our care. Additionally, we generate awareness about the prevention of animal abuse and neglect as well as spay/neuter programs and their important effect on the dog and cat overpopulation crisis.
Through the years our mission has evolved from just rescue and adoption to community service and educational programs to improve the quality of life to all of the NYC boroughs and Long Island.
Our rescues are brought to schools to provide awareness, help prevent animal abuse and bullying by demonstrating and teaching love, compassion, and respect for life.
By establishing a program that serves low-income families, the elderly and disabled individuals, we bring the communities and animals together for a life of harmony through love and compassion for all.
Bobbi and the Strays is a 501(c)(3) tax exempt animal welfare organization, and a no-kill agency.
