Fleur is living in a foster home. Please submit an application from our website and/or email dogs@heartlandanimalshelter.org to learn if you are a match!
Fleur is our 2 year old house hippo who we rescued from Chicago Animal Care and Control in November 2024. We loved everything about this girl the second we met her - the goofy tongue that regularly hangs out of her mouth when she smiles, and her full body wiggles. Someone took it upon themselves to cut her ears nearly completely off, but she doesn’t hold grudges.
She greets everyone as a friend, whether it be human - or other dog! Her foster mom lived by a grammar school and loved to greet the kids in the morning. She is a social butterfly and absolutely loves other dogs, too - playgroup is her favorite time of day. She has lived in a foster home with other dogs, including a chihuahua. She would love to have doggy siblings of her own, to help show her the ropes. She loves to cuddle with them.
Fleur is young and active, and very trainable. She is working on her leash-training, basic obedience, and doing great learning how to be her best self. She isn’t a huge foodie, or super toy motivated either - physical activities with dogs and her people are her “bread and butter.”
She is an amazing and deserving dog that we can’t wait to see in a forever home. Please apply for her today!
Fleur's adoption fee is $250. This animal is spayed, up to date on core vaccines, and Heartworm negative.
