The Election babies have quite a beginning - Maga was the first one brought to the shelter alone, found behind a restaurant at about 2.5 weeks old. It was Election Day, and thinking she was a single, she got a very unique name. A few days later, her apparent siblings were brought in from the same location.
The fourth tortie girl is Perseverance, so named by her special back leg, twisted either in an accident or possible while crowded in utero. Perseverance’s malformed leg doesn’t slow her in the least, and in fact she was the hardest of the whole bunch to catch, she’s fast and she’s determined! She can run, jump, and climb like her siblings, and so the rescue vet is not quick to recommend amputation as long as she utilizes her leg and doesn’t have any raw areas or scabbing where she sets it on the ground. She is an absolute love bug.
She didn't quite make the minimum weight for spay day before the rescue vet closed for the holidays, so she'll still need to have her surgery after the first of the year.
We LOVE seeing our babies adopted in pairs… having a familiar sibling/buddy helps ease their transition to a new home, and gives them a constant companion for life. For more great reasons to adopt a pair, visit http://www.kittenlady.org/twokittens.
