My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi there! My name is Rum Runner, and I am a sweet, social and loving kitty. My greatest enjoyment comes from spending time with people, whether it is sitting in their laps receiving a pet or two, or being carried around. I am very curious and feel it is important to follow my humans around to learn about what they are doing throughout the day. At night, I will place my head on the pillow next to my human’s head, so I can be close to them. Periodically I will make adorable chirping noises and purr to share my delight, particularly when I am cuddling in someone’s arms. I show great respect for my humans’ furniture as well and know it is not for scratching.

Aside from spending time with my humans, playtime is one of my favorite parts of the day. When the wand toys, balls with bells, toy mice and plastic balls come out, it is just so exciting! Kids are so much fun to play with, too, and other cats and dogs make such great playmates. In between playtimes and cuddles, I like to rest, relax and eat, another thing I enjoy. My foster family shares that I am “a very nice kitty” and “very well socialized and accepting of people, old and young.” I couldn’t agree more and know I would be such a perfect addition to a loving home!

More about this rescue

Paws and Claws Rescue is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit in the Chicagoland area dedicated to preventing, and alleviating the suffering caused by abuse, neglect, and overpopulation. We help dogs and cats mentally and physically heal, and give them a chance to find love, a full life, and a forever home.

Our focus is on rescuing orphaned neonatal kittens, nursing kittens with their feral mothers, under-socialized cats, and dogs who have been at Chicago Animal Care and Control for too long. We see ourselves as the crossing guards for these vulnerable animals, helping them get from their past, whether that be from a traumatic home, a kennel, or a euthanasia list, to a safe and kind human who will love them.
